B16a2 turbo setup
Hi guys,
I have a B16a2 del sol and bought a turbo kit which was not to expensive,
it has a Garrett T28,intercooler and the other parts you need included.
A tuner said that you can run 0.6bar i don't know how much psi that is and run save for your stock internals, like rods and pistons.
Is this true?
What can i expect with a kit like these? and when i do pistons and rods.
Question 2
Is it true that my block has to be bored to run turbo pistons?
Or are there 81.5mm turbo pistons?
Or is it saferun more psi with only a other head gasket?
Thanks already

Hey dude,
.6 bar is gona be ok for ya for a very long time but thats only if your tune is good.
When do you need pistons and rods? Well after you blow up of course or past about 12psi .8 bar on that motor.
The block does not need to be bored for different pistons because you can get them in the size the block is in right now (81mm) you do however have to get the block honed which scuffs up the cylinder walls so you get a good seal.
If you were to get pistons I would recomend that you do a 81.5mm just becaus this way you can be sure not to have any problems with it.
You can also go the headgasket way and save a lot of money and down time and yes you can run more boost with just the head gasket.
Either way, its all about tuning tuning tuning.
For anything else that you need do a search on the topic first because there is a lot of information like this floating around in the archives and everywhere else.
Happy build, and good luck with your setup!!

yep its a 81mm right now, and yes you can run either a 81 or a 81.5 but with the 81.5 your gona have to bore and hone it out. Where as if you were to just get some 81mm pistons you would just have to hone the block.
No problem man..
