Default B16a1 head. -turbo

I'm going for turbo on my ek hatch.
I originally bought it with a full b16a1 swap. My block just went out, so I figured now will be a good time to get it ready for turbo.
Question is: what block? I have two different ones that I'm looking at. Either stick with a b16a1 block or get a b18b1(that is already vtec ready) (my buddy is selling me it, it's already machined).
My hp goal is about 300-375.
Also I keep reading that b16a1 is high compression so b18 would be a better option for boost. What you guys think I should do? Ty

The question is what do YOU want to do with the car? What is your purpose? What is your budget?
