Best stock block/head combo for turbo?
what would be the best stock block/head combo for turbocharging my dels sol. i currently have the b16a3. but it seems like the lower compression from a dseries would make a better turbo engine. would putting an ITR or GSR head on a b16 block lower the compression? im asking all this because i believe it would be ALOT cheaper then building my engine. also what kinda of psi could i safely run w/ any of these options. ive heard 7psi max on stock b16 but at http://www.turbo-kits.com/del_sol_turbo_kits.html they say 8psi and 75-100hp gains. anyway my main question is whats the best block/head combo and how much psi could it handle? thanks.

Just find a b18A or B18B block and switch bottom ends, the head you have now is perferct. That would be good for 10psi or 275HP depending on the turbo. I say just turbo your b16 now and take your time and slowly build a b18 block with forged internals.

i really really want to build a block. but dont all honda blocks need to be sleeved for forged pistons? then id end up spending 8grand to build the engine and turbo it. im willing to take my time and do that but if any stock combinations could handle 10-15 psi id rather go that rout because it would be so much cheaper. also if i did turbo my engine what psi could it handle and how much hp would that make?

Get a B18a block and put some rods and pistons, and wola!!!!
U can run 14-15 psi safely without sleeving ur block. I seen people run 18psi on stock sleeves safely. Its all in the tuning

The only honda motor that you need to sleeve to run forged pistons is the H22 because it has some wierd material for the stock sleeves.
Keep the B16 instead of the LS motor. You have the tranny with nice tight gears, it already has a VTEC head on it so you don't have to hassle with that, and you can make great power with the B16. Look at the classifieds, I got my rods and pistons for about 750 bucks, and a GE blockguard for 85. Little over 800 bucks and people are running 400+ to the wheels on this same setup. You would spend atleast that much to pick up a stock B18B block and do an LS/VTEC setup, and still have weak stock LS rods.

vtec is overrated on stock motors ... go straight LS and you'll own all stock motors and some built well at least i do.
