B16A Integra Turbo Questions
So This is a project my bro took on. I was asked for some help/imput.
So far A 2mm cometic was put on. Stock bottom end. Stock upper.
Right now the car runs. Kinda rough. Not producing much boost. Still need to hook other things up like a boost gauge.. Need help with tune. Or tuning. Chip? ECU? I first told him we need a 3 bar but some one said its not needed being were only looking to push 10 psi tops- this thing is Stock, Not sure what it will handle..
Kit was a Ebay kit- Wanted fun on a budget. Kit was more or less a nightmare getting things right. Mismatched- Parts didnt fit- no hardware.. it was almost like some one blind packed the thing.
Anyway Anyone have any tips- Here are some photos I took today. Just some basic engine shots. I ended up welding up the Bung on oil pan.

anyone got any advice or imput-
I believe were going to put 60# injectors in- some where around 6-650cc.
Were looking for some tune or chip- something that the car will run good or get us running half decent.
Right now the car cuts out under half throttle- Idles a bit high around 1000-1200 Needs some more ringing out. This is my first turbo kit from a box.
Could use any Imput tips or advice If any one has some injectors or any Turbo related parts Let me know- Thanks

Well, first of all, you vacum line going to the wastegate is hooked up to a pre turbo intake pipe, that will never see boost, it needs to be hooked up to the intake manifold so it can see boost.
Second, I'm sure it runs like **** because it has no engine management, not only will it run crappy, it will blow up very soon. You need bigger injectors and a chipped & tuned ecu, not just one or the other, or one then the other, both at the same time.

I am not a expert here.
I did not hook any of the hoses up- I dont have a clue where anything even goes.
I was under the impression that the hose woluld go off the turbo housing.
My brother told me he didnt want to drill out the turbo housing for a fitting?
Sometimes its what has to be done????
I am like a mushroom here, Kept in the dark and fed alot of bullshit.
I have my own projects going and this thing started right when I was trying to finish mine. Now I am working on getting this thing to correct so I can get back to my project.
Do we have any advice for engine managment ? How about some one to guide me in the right direction

Dont drill a hole in the turbo, just run a line from the intake manifold, teed off of something else if you have to, and hook it to the wastegate, the way it is hooked up right now it is useless.
What year is the car?

All of this could of been avoided with research on your brother's part. First stop driving the car. As far as engine management if your on a budget (which is obviously apparent) just get the ecu socketed to accept burnable Rom chips and contact a local tuner he can prolly do this for you. He will also be able to burn a basemap to allow you drive to him to get a proper tune..and a basemap doesn't mean "test" out the car or beat on it by any means jus baby it there that's it.

Today picked up PTE 440 Injectors.
Next I guess we will figure on a tune-
Making other adjustments further.
Car is a 1994 Integra. Stock Fuel Pump ya. Considering a new one..
The hose thing we are planning on routing to the back of the Intake manifold.

Got a chance to weld up the wastegate dump pipe
Hopefully I did it right as far as location. I only ordered 2 90s for this thinking we would route it a diffrent way and we went a diffrent direction.

Hey I didn't read it all but keep at it.
Something is wrong with your engine when you put a turbo on yor car there's no change till it hits boost. You should be able
To rev and blow up the engine rev as high as you want on stock everything lol.
To do it safe you need a map designed for the car and injectors.
Keep at it

^WHAT? LOL...anywayz you need more than consider a new pump your going to lean out the car with the stock pump...I suggest you and your brother keep doing some research..
I have a honda tech account he does not-
I have built my honda 2-3 years ago. He purchase a integra and wanted something line what I have.
Since than I have moved on to a GMC syclone pumping out close to 600.
I still Have my Honda, I am in the process of wrapping up my truck. My bro decided to pick back up on his build. I am around to help and direct what I know.
I dont know JACK about tuning,HONDATA CHIPS, ECU Ect.

if the engine bogs out and acts all funny its not the turbo kit its the shitty engine that it was put on. I used my car as a daily driver slapped on the kit it ran the same. if you wanna hit boost the dc and timing need adjusted for it.
so unless you messed up some lines it should idle the same, rev the same, be the exact same.
hook up the wastegate properly to a vac source or on the cooler pipe before or after the intercooler depending how much boost

What I learn is you need some basic knowledge about turbo charging alone. And, you have to pay to play. Cheap turbo setup or parts only gets you to do it all over again. Install a performance clutch if you have a stock clutch. Some may say that you don't need one. Mine slipped on the dyno and cost me X $$. couldn't put the power to the ground. I bought this setup when I was new to turbo charging and have very little knowledge and on a budget. One thing led to another...
My setup
B16a2 All stock with ACT 6 puck clutch /HD plate
Peakboost manifold
turbonetics T3/T04B
38mm Tial WG, treadstone intercooler/pipe
HKS bov
2.5 Dp+ HKS hi power Exhaust( could of made more power with 3" DP and exhaust
650 RC
P28 with Hondata s100/boost
Last time tuned on cast manifold 200whp at 7psi
Today on peakboost manifold 237 WHP / 198 lbs. Torque @ 8psi.
I gain 37 WHP by adding peakboost manifold and up 1 psi.

His computer took a **** on him. Im not always around. Anyway- We been getting further along.
To his disadvantage, ball joints on acura needed replacment. Went to take them to get pressed and he ended up getting run off road and de-reailing his civic into a curb sending the LCA and other **** back into the fender. His Daily driver was down for the count as well as the Acura project.
Everything on the Turbocharged acura was put on hold, We had to address the civic. We both spend 1 day in the yard and had yanked the parts in minimal time and had car going over a weekend. Got time to address the Acura.
Ordered a New Fuel Pump- 255 walbro install was super simple and easy. Also ordered a Fuel pressure gauge to correctly set pressure from FPR. Also ordered a set of NGK BKR8EIX plugs. Was told there better for the application.
I believe were going to ECTUNE route. Will get some update photos up soon
List of mods so far :
STOCK UPPER/LOWER B16a
WB 255 Fuel Pump
PTE 440 Injectors
AEM FPR
COMETIC 2mm Turbo Head gasket
Ebay Turbo Kit-
T04B .57 AR
.50 compressor
Cast Manifold
2.5 downpipe
35mm wastegate

Yeah wow pics a little large there. Dont even know what I am looking at in the last pic.
Take the Ebay turbo kit and sell off the waste gate, turbo, BOV and through the oil lines in the trash. The manifold and intercooler are ok and will work.
Get a real Tial waste gate, a real BOV like Tial, Greddy or HKS. Get a real turbo that will last like a Garrett or Precision. A 50 trim is a great turbo for a stock B16. I would be running at least 55cc injectors the 440cc will max out quickly if you want more power. The Cometic head gaskets are well known to fail, best to use OEM or FelPro with ARP head studs.
Your waste gate dump tube is really bad, the way it is routed into the down pipe like that will effect turbo spool. Best to leave the dump tube open.

i highly suggest removing those 440cc injectors and run the stock until you get a proper tune/map for them. putting larger injectors will dump more or less fuel needed because the ecu doesnt know what to do. my tuner told me to use my stock injectors and just drive normal aka stay out of pressure and the engine will be fine. once i arrive for my tune we will let the car cool and change out the injectors and begin the tune on the dyno and with my hondata s300 tuning tool
as for your fuel pump look into getting a walbro intake 255 fuel pump. there about 80 bucks roughly and simple to install

I should be OK with what im looking to do with the 440 injectorss. Sorry about the large pics wonder why that happned?
Already installed the walbro unit in the car was a simple task.

SO recently never got around to tune car. Ended up having a issue. Cyl. # 1 wont fire. This is all after the larger injectors were on/off. I discovered by removing wire #1 and there was no change in idle. I can hear a loud arcing noise inside the plug hole with the wire on/attached. The thing is arcing, just not firing the cylinder #1.
I went and got a compression tester.
cylinders were 140-145-155- around that area. I put a Low compression Headgasket on the car. I dont think it wouldmake the compression be that low.(WOuld it?) I was curious to see what my compression would be on my civic. And i read up in the 260 PSI range all across. I had smoke comming out of my pipe and thought it was oil blowing out the rings. If my compression is in the 260 range I dont think I have a problem with my engine, His is signifantly lower My brother thinks a Leak down test will pin-point the problem. He seems to think Its a issue either in the valvetrain (bent valve). I seem to think that a piston could have fragmented or exploded under boost and its still being held together in cylinder wall. ( I found it out in my truck. Still ran and misfired, but the piston was in many pieces inside the cylinder)
Not sure where to even come across a leak-dwn tester. If that would even find out anything for us.
Im trying to just get the bottom end built. H-beam rods .20over pistons (turbo) and a re surface of deck. Hopefully if we do a re-build on the bottom end with some slightly stronger internals we wont have problems like this.
I tried to explain that the cars engine is close to 20yrs old. Things wear. we dont know the history on the engine.

Update Got block back from machinist.
Installed New Low compression turbo pistons. .75 over, New H beam rods fresh cleaned surface deck. Hot tanked cleaned.
The 1st pic or 2 was when we prepped the area for working. Just got the engine stand back out and put it on, got ready to start bolting things on. Other pics with Green paint are a with a few hours of work. Installing the Oil pump, scatter shield, crank seal.. all the little things to get us up top. Start @ bottom, work way up. I had to modify the oil pan again and weld a 10an fitting for oil return. Old pan was shot. Some one gave us a free OEM b16 pan.
I have a feeling this is going to run great.
Saturday Im going to hit it pretty hard and try and getting it done.
