Default B16 Powerband

Thinking of running either a GT30 .63 or .82 a/r or aGT35R .63ar on my new setup (check Sig). Looking for a strong powerband from start to finish while trying to get the most off pump gas. This will be ONLY a street car (everyday use). A quick spool and power throughout the 9000RPM range is a must. Really need help on making this decison.

personally i think the gt30r is a great turbo. if you don't need 500 hp though, i would go with a 28rs or 2871r since you are looking at gt turbos.

Its a must that I build power throughout my RPM band. Anything under a Gt30 is not an option not willing to get a journal bearing turbo either like a 60-1

you cant have it both ways, do you want good low end/midrange, or do you want big top end power?

well what exactly are your power goals? and what do you consider a "powerband from start to finish"? looking at a few b16 gt35r dynos the power band seems to be from 6k-9k area, maybe 6.5k on the larger turbine AR.

heres 2 b16 gt35r dynos recently posted on here...

i believe they are both the .82 AR, i know for sure the sceond one is.

i think you should go with the 30r for a street car on pump gas. you will still make great power and have a little more power band to play with.

also if you hit up the evans tuning forum their is a gt30r vs gt35r graph, but i think its on a gsr motor.

also a good gt30r comparison discussion was going on in this thread https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1545133
again mainly gsr setups being discussed but there are a bunch of graphs for the different gt30r.

Appreciate all the help guys. I want my cake and eat it too on this won. Either way it does not seem Ill be completely happy (frustration). Im almost thinkin of giving up and buyin traction bars, a set of drag radials and a T3/T04e 60 trim .63a/r and just run 15psi

yeah i think you are pretty much assed out when it comes to the infamous B16 and turbo powerbadn saga. i have had my turbo B16 for over 3 years and have been thru 6 turbos looking for the one. finally i am happy with my 35R. i have had every journal bearing turbo in the book and to me they all sucked.

with the new one, i can actually get my vtec below 5k, and can build about 10psi by 5k as well, and then it just keeps going up form there, almost like it cant help itself! i just finished some street tuning today and i really do like it

if youre not shooting for 550-625 @ the wheels, get the 30R but dont go any biger than a .63 on the exhaust or you will be doing what i did, and change stuff every 2 months

That's kind of hard with current technology. Seeing how ball bering's are about(if not THE) best type of bearing there is ATM. It's not like the turbine sizes aren't offered in a wide array right now. It's pretty much always going to be pick and choose, unless you have means/time/money to do a twin charge or TT(small + large turbo).
