B16 boost? Or b18
So basically I have a running b16a2 in my daily driving car right now. However I was planning on booting it.. I was looking at a nice turbonetics kit.. But my real question is. Should I save some extra money to buy a b18 block? I would like a little more torque than the b16 has but my motor runs beautifully. My goals are around 280-300 to the wheel
If you plan on keeping the B16 stock, he's on the right track. You could build a B18 block and just swap that in once you are ready. You'd definitely get more torque and overall drivability from a B18.
Many people turbocharger both. It's a matter of your budget, and torque needs. Some kits are not designed to work well with the B16 engine, so think and select carefully before deciding.
In the end its up to you and your budget..
you have to ask yourself, how important is low and midrange power?
for me the answer was simple and thats exactly what I wanted.
Sold my mediocre turbo kit, and my b16 block, kept the head and focused on building my b18c properly with a better turbo kit
I couldn't ask for more, on the other hand if your super anxious get a turbo kit that will work on both and have fun with the b16 and save up to get the b18 built
just remember in the end it would cost more with tunning expenses etc, if you sell your b16 parts now it can help fund the b18 project

So basically I just came across the opportunity to buy a brand new EMUSA turbo kit for pretty cheep from a buddy of mine, he swears that it's a good kit and that it will be reliable but a lot of things I've read say otherwise does anyone have any input on this? Reguardless I'm still going to dish out as much cash as needed for a good tune

Tell you what, I have two trash cans full of garbage that is truly reliable as garbage. I'll sell them to you for $200.

In other words, it's still garbage. Don't bother
He swears it's a good kit, but wants to pawn it off on you.. Gee. How nice of him to sell this to you.

[QUOTE=DohcVtec77;50874317]well that's one way to put it haha! I think I got your point, do you know of any good kits out there? That are reliable but won't rape my pockets if I could spend like 1600 on a kit would be awesome[/QUOTE
Unless it's used it'll probably cost more. You can piece together a kit and that will give you more room. Otherwise, to buy a complete kit it'll be probably 2k and up.

Eh, you'd be surprised to see how long a lot of those wyntoms hold up, very highly recommended from what I remember back when I considered ebay parts. Hell, I even remembering seeing that godspeed and emusa bovs aren't half bad.
I guess time will tell for our friend.

say thats true when it does fail you risk blowing your motor or other components, I suppose you can rely on the boostcut in your EMS, its just not something I would personally use or recommend.
