B16 or B18 for boost...
do LS turbo for everyday driving, you can push about 10lbs on a stock LS block. do 7 for everyday driving though. alot safer, a lot cheaper, and more torque

Longer gears arent good for **** except for good gas mileage. Staying in boost does you no good. Shorter gears are good for accelleration. Period.

Pound for pound the b16a will make more power per PSI.
The LS will add a very small bit of safety, but the b16a is a better turbo motor. Better flowing head, oil squirters and so fourth.
Turbo is a power ADDER. the more power you start with, the more power you get.

d series
all i paid for was the turbo and this is on stock internals....1k gives me all the internals i need to get 250-300whp and then im only in for 2k (includes turbo setup)
thats still 1k under any nice b-series swaps (and not even got a turbo yet)....guys i dont hate b-series by any chance....ive had 4 swaps in 4 cars totalling me over 3k on each one and could never afford a turbo...im just trying to so him the cheapest route to good power

if you like the BOV sound (like me) urbo your D series...i agree with that one guy. do a mini me....its super east to do a swap with another d series....(for your first time) the other ones are a bit diff. for your first time putting in a motor.
But out of a b16 and b18. i would be the 1.8L lol more torque. Torque is what you feel...its that diff. why pay all that **** for a b16 when you feel the same as a d series...get that extra .2 L and get some torque. b18 non vtec would be nice. higher compression i believe...right ?

b18b y0! on 8 psi it should put out around 225 or so hp, and be very safe and reliable. a d16 will be on its limits at 225 whp. and then if you want to up the boost, the ls can handle 250+ on stock block and stuff very well with a resonable tune on it. the b16 will put down low torque #'s and is prone the the broken ringland syndrome(as are most honda's, but anyway). put it this way- i had a turbo d16, and to avoid any headaches and worries about blowing my **** up at like a little over 200 whp, im going to go ls turbo instead.
you cant go wrong being gsr turbo in a hatch LOL might cost more but better in the long run...if money is the problem, then stay sngle cam.. blow them up all you want they are cheap to replace, i woul djust get a decent turbo kit, and start the motor blowup LOL

When you start a sentence with "wuts", instead of "what's" - it says a lot about the person looking to turbo their car.
Read Honda-Tech for about a year before you order any parts.
