Default autometer oil temp gauge

Hey guys, before I change my oil, I want to get some info on how to install this autometer oil temperature gauge.

I know I should tap the rear lower portion of the oil pan, but how do you guys reccommend that I secure the bung into the pan? I think the bung (or fitting rather) that comes with the gauge is brass, and the pan is steel, so it can't be welded in, right?

Also, to conncect the sender to the gauge, do I just use a normal piece of wire? I'll post some pics of the gauge and it's components.. . . .

I would find a steel bushing and weld it, which would be easy to do if its 1/8" NPT. You could braze the brass one and have it work fine too. A length of automotive grade wire would be ideal. Maybe 16 or 18 Gauge

i have a better idea. just tap into your oil drain bolt. that is what i did for the past 2.5 years and works perfect. you need to get an adapter though. There is no drilling, just direct replacement.

get a steel version of the fitting you need from the hardware store, then get it welded in.

Or, just buy a moroso 5 quart pan like I did. (it already has an extra bung on it for oil temp..)

I had a moroso pan, but I sold it a while ago. I can't justify spending that much more $$ again. . .

Anyone know where I can get a steel bung? The hardware stores dont have em. . .
I kinda need to order this fast, because I'm waiting on changing my oil on this lol I wanna do it all at once.
