Default autometer a/f gauge

I have the gauge installed, and it reads rich most of the time, until i get on the freeway and let off the throttle it reads lean, which everyone says is normal. My prob is that it doesn't bounce back and forth all the time like everyone says, when i'm not on throttle. It just stays at rich when im not on wot. my boost is set at 0 for now. Is this normal?

Do you have bigger injectors or a fuel pressure regulator installed? If so, it will cause your engine to run rich if the ecm cannot compesate for the extra gas(leaning it out). Remove you spark plugs and check if they're black which would verify you're running rich most of the time. Or another possibility altough slim, might be your o2 sensor shorting to the o2 heater power circuit which would also give a high voltage reading.

U don't have to be at WOT for it to read rich. It should only bounce back and forth in these conditions:

1) When you're idling
2) When you're on very light throttle cruising (close loop mode).

It should read lean when u're engine braking (ie. when u let off ur gas pedal) but once ur back on the gas lightly it should start bouncing again.

Oh, and its useless for monitoring your AFR. All it tells you is that ur not running 14.7 (rich or lean) thats all so I wouldn't use it for keeping your AFR in check.
