Autometer EGT probe......will it melt?
I have an autometer EGT (street version, ultra lite series) and I keep hearing horror stories about the probe melting in the manifold and falling into the turbo....
Is there anyone out there that has ACTUALLY had this happen?
Just curious, cause I'd like to go ahead and tap the manifold.......if this really is true, what are my options for a probe that won't melt and will still work with my gauge?
Thanks!
Brian

From what I was told, the old autometer probes did this. They don't sell the old probes anymore. They now sell the probes that you had to buy seperate, sorta an upgraded probe deal, with the gauge as a kit. Once again I was told this but cannot verify it myself. Anyone?

dont waste your money with autometer.. if you want good accurate readings go with a greddy, apex, blitz or something in that range like alot of people say, you get what you pay for and autometers are cheap as well as alot of people have complained about their innacurate readings....

Or if your that worried don't tap into the manifold and instead tap right where the dp meets the turbo straight into the flange.... then no worries even if it does break/melt it wont hurt your turbo :D
