ATTN: GT42R USERS (OIL FEED QUESTIONS)
Well, my motor is going back together now, and I am ready to get everything done. My only questions now have to do with the oil feed to my turbo.
For you guys running the 42R's..
1) what size oil feed line do you use? -3? -4?
2) Do the Garrett GT series cartridges come factory with an oil restrictor? I borrowed a pic from someone elses oil inlet, is this an "oem" oil restrictor?
If it is not, what size restrictor am I to run?
Thanks for your help in advance!

I have had the same problem with using a oil restrictor or not, i have the Garrett Ball Bearing Turbocharger Installation Sheet here.
This is what it says about oil restrictors etc.
Oil Supply:
Minimum Oil Supply Pressure at Low Idle = 0.70/cm2 or 9.96 psi
Minimum Oil Supply Pressure at Peak Torque Speed = 2.17 KG/cm2 or 30.87 psi
Minimum inside Diameter of Oil Supply Pipe = 4mm
An Oil Inlet restrictor is recommended if maximum Engine Oil Pressure exceeds 60 psi (which most hondas would)
The Turbocharger Oils supply to be filtered by a Full Flow Filter of 20 Micron Maximum Rating.

Re: ATTN: GT42R USERS (BEEYOND)
my gt3567r had a oil restrictor already in it. the picture above is a restrictor. the thread pattern is 7/16th inverted flare. I run a -4 to mine, as it has a restrictor.

Re: ATTN: GT42R USERS (slow poke)
I run a different turbo, but the same restrictor inside my CHRA. I use a -3AN as well.
In this pic you can see the 90deg fitting that I use. It has a flared end to mate up with the restrictor inside.
BTW I got mine from TheShodan. PM him and he will get you what you need.

it has the inverted flare for GT turbos. Using this for 6k miles on my 35r no problems

I was referring to the restrictor fitting.

Actually it is recommended that you use the restrictor even if you run a -3AN line.
If you ran this turbo or even knew anything about the Garrett BB CHRA then you would know that what he is doing is right.

Re: ATTN: GT42R USERS (tepid1)
my new garrett turbo, didn't say anything about running an additional restrictor inline with the already restrictor which is on the turbo. I'm sure it wouldn't be harmful, but i haven't had any issues with my -4 to turbo, with the build in restrictor.
