Default ATI Damper advice - ATI Customer service A+

I'm building a new motor after oil pump failure in my last one, suspect from running a lightweight un-dampened crank pulley. This time around I haven't skimped on parts anywhere with a fully built motor.

My engine builder has almost finished the build and has spun up the ATI damper to check all is running true and ran into this issue. I've been in contact with ATI with the following and they say it's nothing to worry about. Just wanting peoples advice on here who have run ATI dampers, as the last thing I want this time round is oil pump failure due to the crank pulley being a bit up the ****, especially after dropping 13+ grand on it.

Quote from my engine builder.
The problem with the ATI damper is, the outer multi-v section is out of round by 0.58mm (up & down), and also has lateral run out of 0.38mm(front to back), with the main central assembly of the damper running true on the crankshaft.
We know you don’t balance these dampers, but we always check fit them on the crank, and also check for any run out, for the very reason we have found in this instance.

ATI's reply
.022 Up and down

.014 Fore and aft

Isn’t a problem and once the pulley bolts are installed you wont have any problem that amount of run out can be caused by the damper pressing on the crank but it isn’t anywhere near enough to worry about.

thank you,
I'm probably just being paranoid after my last run in, but I would rather question it and ask around then not do anything and regret it later if I end up stranded half way down the country again.
Thoughts please.

No one?

I've been in touch with my engine builder and he's not happy with the response from ATI. If we don't end up any better a new oem pulley will be going on. Not what I was expecting from an expensive reputable crank pulley.

Just an update on this. I've been in touch with Mike from Laskey Racing again and he's been in touch with a head guy at ATI. He has viewed the video and sent out a replacement damper free of charge. He says it looks like one of the o-rings was pinched during assembly.

Very happy with Mike @ Laskey Racing for helping me out with this, as I purchased the damper in Feb and have only got around to noticing this now with the motor finally nearing the end of the build.
Also very happy with ATI customer service, I can't say the same about weaksauce.org who have taken my $1100 and stopped responding to emails, PM's etc. All I'm asking for is a tracking number for my order... a month on!

Mike From Laskey Racing is the man when it comes to builds & customer service, he helped me out a ton with my build & always took time to answer my many questions along the road.

Wow, not ever expecting to see that with an ATI but things do happen.

Glad to hear Mike @ Laskey and ATI took care of it in the end! Mike is the man!
