What do you mean...right size sockets? Shouldn't you have a nice set of tools by now? Sounds like you just got your learner's permit yesterday. You have the money..or somehow "access" to a motor and a car, but don't have tools...hmmm..that sounds kinda fishy there!!

wtf?

I'm not sure if the studs are the same for the b series as they are for my D, but for mine i use a 12mm 12point socket.

I used a 13mm when I did mine two days ago, but now that you mention it, it is an American company so it probably was supposed to be a 1/2" socket.

Oh well. Mine worked fine. What beautiful hardware ARP makes, I might add.

Yeah i got a 13mm and its loose so have got a 1/2" on the way. On the box the torque specs are like 65lbs not 80-90 like people have quoted. why is this? Has it been found that some extra is better or is it because of the different lubes people use?

tourqing to 80-90 is unecessary and just ends up breaking sockets. 65 lbs is plenty

Not only do you take a chance of breaking your sockets, but the extra torque has a pretty good chance of distorting the floating cylinders in the block, resulting in ring sealing problems, and more blown headgaskets.

what kind of ******* reply is this? The guy asked a question. We didn't have a complete set of 12-point sockets at his house while removing the head so a quick answer of "1/2 inch 12 point" would have sufficed. We could've run to sears and got that one socket and been well on our way to removing the head.

this forum doesn't exist for ******** like you to post nonsense. It exists for everyone to help each other out. end yourself please kthx.

i use these studs on my built ls turbo and i torque to the stock specs. Hains manual seems like the most logical thing to do. not, oh well i think this should work.

You guys had better call ARPs tech department and tell them that. They're going around telling customers that its 1/2" .

well if you break it down and convert 1/2" to mm its 12.7mm which can be rounded off to 13mm but the 13mm will slip under touqre so its best to use what ARP suggest so if anything goes wrong you can blame there asses
