Apexi Air Filter
I want to get the Apexi Air Filter, but Ben says you can't install it on other than an Apexi system? (this is when I asked him if it could fit the AEM CAI).
How come in this picture it fits. Can someone explain how the Apexi is different from the K&N .... i dont mean quality wise, but fitment wise.

The A'PEXi filter doesn't have a flange like normal K&N style filters. It connects by way of 4 screws. You can still get it to work in a semi-custom setup. Check out what the MKIV guys do: http://mkiv.com/techarticles/apexi_a...ter/index.html

That's just a hose wrapped in Heat Insulating tape.
Regarding the Apexi filter, when I called apexi a while back about it he did'nt mention anything about the filter having any special mounting mechanisms. He was talking about the universal fit Apexi filter though. The opening is either 80mm or 85.

LOL they are asking about the radiator hose not the intake pipe. I think it's just a textured hose, dirty, with the top part of the texture wiped clean...if thata makes sense.
But back to the air filter...why go through all the trouble? Just want to be different? It's not going to make more power than a K&N, they are too similar.

First off thats a DSM, not a honda. Second off, all you will need to fit the Apex filter is a flange for the 4 bolt setup it needs to hook it up to the intake pipe.
its not about being different or even the power.........its about the basic function...FILTERATION......if you've read the tests, it the best for the job.

It could be because I am color blind, but the K&N they took a picture of looks like it does not have any oil on it. But, looks like it did pretty good. One more thing...
THIS PROVES MY POINT THAT FOAM FILTERS ABSOLUTELY SUCK ***.
When I had my Greddy IC piping with a K&N fitler on Ebay, I made a comment about how the K&N is better than the Greddy foam filter, some moron emailed me saying somthing like "for your information the Greddy is a high performance racing filter that is way better and gives more power than a K&N piece of junk". LOL!
