Anything conclusive with PWR A/W intercooler?
I just want to check to see if anyone has any real world street experience with this setup yet. I read every post that I could find on these things and haven't really found anything conclusive yet. My concerns are:
1. Streetability ( i know it will do good at the track)
2. Use with nitrous ( any problems there, what about nitrous backfires?)

air to air is better for the street/ dail use.... a/w is high maintanence and if you really want to use it to its best ability you need to keep a supply of ice on hand..... or if you have really big pockets..... a large bottle of nitrous

We had one running the other day at idle and we got the surface temp down to 42 degreees in about 3 minutes in 90 degree weather. The only problem i have with them is condensation but that will happen to any water to air cooler.

If you have a heat exchanger, it's equal or better than Air to air without ice. WITH ice, the water/air cannot be beat for it's size.
It all depends on the size of the intercoolers your comparing. A bigass Skyline core FMIC will perform as well as a moderately sized air/water, and a big air to water cannot be beat. Period.

I am planning to use the kit that is sold by some of the folks here I think. It has a heat exchanger with 12" fan, pump, and a filler. I would turn the fan on using one of the programmable outputs on my ECU using the intake teperatures as a refererence. Sound like it would work well enough on the street? It will be really useful at the track, but I just need to make sure that I can do at least as good as a normal air-air on the street.

its seems the pwr wa cooler is too small and most race teams are losing power with it.. Thats what they have been saying on here atleast.. if you want a water to air get the spearco. I don't see a problem with one on the street if you set it up right.

No one is losing power with the PWR. The Spearco or Precision will cool a little bit better but they are huge and can't be fit into a street car. They cool by holding the air inside them longer and this cuts into the boost pressure a little. The PWR has less backpressure as it is more free flowing. However because the air spends less time in it, it does not have as much time to cool.

We switched to a precision and picked up power, lost backpressure, and have cooler temps. There was absolutely no loss in going with the precision. Air temps are WAY more consistent and stable with the precision. With the pwr, the air temps would start cold and quickly rise. With the precision, the air temps are cold all the time and very consistent through the entire run. Backpressure will cause the turbo to work harder and raise air temps. The precision has less pressure drop than the pwr. Do the math, how much more power will 50 degree cooler air make?

1% more power per 11 degree drop right? So about 4.5% and if we are talking lets say 850whp that is 38.25whp at least maybe more?
