Default anyone know how to read spark plugs?

last night i was driving my 95 civic ex pretty hard. I was going 60 mph then threw it in 3rd and my check engine light came on. Then my car started idling from 1k to 3k rpm. I figured it was the spark plugs, so i checked it and it was covered in red color, sort of like a charcoal red. I m going to replace the spark plugs to see if that was the problem. I just wanted why the spark plugs are that way, was the engine too hot?, is there detonation?.. any advice would be much appreciated...
I'm a noob at this, and want to learn more
thanks

I've got a turbo d16 with stock internals and an FMIC, pushing 5psi.

Did you recently use octane booster? This happened to me one time when there were no Sunoco stations around. I used 93 octance 76 gas and my car was detonating, so I bought some "Outlaw" octane booster that didn't seem to help. When I eventually changed my plugs, they were red. Click on this link and scroll to the bottom. They were sort of like that.

This may have nothing to do with your problem at all but I dont think APC wires are helping you one bit.

hahaha I had this problem. Red is not a sign of any engine damage. Red plugs is a sign of poor fuel addictives that are usually found in poor fuel. So basically you got a bad tank of gas. Try going to another gas station and filling up with premium or just burn that tank of gas off.

You're welcome. To check your engine codes take the key out of the ignition. Remove the passenger side kick panel and you'll see a green piece with a plug pushed inside it. Bend a paperclip in a "U" shape and use it as a jumper between the 2 wires going into the plug. This pic may help:

Turn on your ignition, and if you made the connection properly, you'll start to see the check engine light flash. It will flash for long and short times. The long flashes are in the 10s. Short flashes are single digits. Don't worry if you missed it, because it will repeat over and over again. When you have the number, then look it up here:

To clear the codes, either disconnect the negative battery terminal or remove the radio fuse (can't remember what it's called), but it's a 7.5 amp fuse right beside the 15 amp fuel injection fuse. Wait about 10 seconds to 10 minutes (depending who you talk to - some even say to pump the brakes), then reconnect.
