Anyone know about ECUs??
Okay, i have been posting on this subject for about a week now and have had a lot of help from everyone (thanks). however, each time one question is answered another one comes up. I am trying to put a plan together for going with a turbocharger for my 2001 PRELUDE. I have come across the HONDATA system to control a lot of the functions of the car, rather than the V-AFC. I am thinking that i want to go with the Stage 3B. After researching this deeper, i have found that i need to swap out my stock ECU to get to OBD 1. (1) If i change out the ECU from OBD II to OBD I, am i going to have any problems because of having a different ECU?? (2) According to HONDATA, there are several models that I can use to swap from, but the year and engine type for the bar code that i need are conflicting with other information that i have found. Here are the sources:
http://www.hondata.com/prelude9600.html
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/aw-cg...668216&r=0&t=0
the tag on that EBAY auction has the correct number, but i just want to know if the list on HONDATAs website is maybe just showing a few matches, rather than all matches. (3) Does anyone know of an internet source that can document all the different ECUs and their motors/years??
If anyone has any helpful information, please let me know. thanks to everyone who has taken a few mins to help out so far.
rock!!!

Get a P72 obdi. This would be a 94-95 gsr ecu (every ecu after 96 is obdii). Get the harness from c-speedracing.com. Get you 3b from the group buy. Now the only thing is to tune the unit. I hope you live near a Hondata tuner. Or you could ask for the best settings for your car and have it be driveable enough to take it to a tuner.

You might want to wait for the AEM to come out. The cost for the new OBD I ECU, the connector, and the 3b is going to be pretty high for a ECU you have to pay someone else to tune. The AEM is plug and play with no conversion harness needed and real time programmable.
It will probably be at least a month before we get any useful information from the people who have bought them.
I know I set you off on the Hondata track to start with, but this is just a suggestion.
