i believe i read that the lost motion assemblys had to be switched to type r ones that were shorter. this was the problems with them breaking.

I think the conclusion was that the material was too weak and it would break even with the type r lost motion assemblys.

I have seen 1 car that broke them with the type r's in there.

Not trying to be like some of the smartarses on here, but if you do a search you will find hell of info on this very subject.

I for one did the homework, saw the old crower cams that were breaking back inthe day. I believe crower is using stronger material now from when i talked to them. Its been a year or more now since I talked to them.

I use he 403's in our all motor car. They are the Drag Race stage 3 Vtec Cams.

I have used them for about 6-8 passes and a few hours of tuning. I haven't had a problem with them. I was able to pull 231HP and 165 Torque and ran an 11.7 @ 113 with shitty tires and #1cyl with a leakdown of 65%.

They will make the power, I threw in a set of stage 3 Skunk2 set of cams for shyts and giggles and I lost 8HP. (not downing skunk2 at all I use skunk2 on my other cars) Of course there are alot of variables, like humidity, temp, and so one when i did the test. It wasn't a test I did on the same day or nothing, but that just my observation.

For the stage 3's I know I had to modify my rockers and do alot of machining to get them to work, but they haven't broke and I hope they don't ever.

There rods seem to be engineered well. They are some tough as rods so I would expect the same quality out of their cams! Its what they do!

The stronger cores are supposed to be the ones with "-2" at the end of the part number.

And, not intentionally trying to stoke the flames, but somebody just mentioned breaking a set of 63403-2's in the last couple of weeks.

I was gonna get the 63413-2's, but after finding out that the brand new set I was gonna buy from a guy (that got them as a replacement set for broken 63403's) had a chipped intake keyway and then hearing about a case of a set of the 63403-2's breaking, I'm completely turned off to buying Crower cams. Heresay or whatever you may call it, Crower's got a cloud of ill-reputation hanging over them.
