anyone else's skunk2 cams fit this poorly?? many pics included
trying to put a set of tuner1's in my b16 head. the exhaust cam is fine but the intake cam has a lobe that is hitting the head casting real bad. check it out.
there it is on one side, you can see it barely missed making contact with the head. that gap is honestly about 20 thou.
theres the other side, just barely misses making contact but this is after i took out a ton of material. it used to bind. im not real comfortable removing any more aluminum...
this gives a better idea of how much i had to take off so it didnt bind when rotating the cam. also notice how the cam doesnt sit even in the journal...
the problem could lie here. with the cam pushed toward the tb side the ring on the end of the cam doesnt fit into its slot in the camcap and it isnt able to be tightened
theres the markings just to verify. you can even see the intake cam sits very far to the front of the engine
there is lined up next to my itr cam. the skunk2 cam is the one on the bottom. you can see how that lobe sits about 1/16" to the left of the itr cam.
wtf

Can you take a picture of the gasket on the cam gear side? Are those seated in properly? If those arent in correctly it pushes the cam over slightly you may want to adjust that.
Those definietely look like used cams.

the cams are used. i dont have the cam seal in yet. never made it that far.
black marks on the lobes appear to be discoloration. the lobe itself is not scored or worn down.
i did remove material from the head. i did not see any oil journals in the vicinity so i went for it with the dremel. im pissed i didnt notice this before i bolted the head on the block it would have been much easier to clean...
my other b16 head is at my machinist getting freshened up for another motor im building. im going to stop by with the cam tomorrow and fit it in to see if it has the same issue in the other head...

Are they not real skunk2 cams? I dont think i've ever seen a set of cams that you would need to grind the head to make them fit. Thats just very odd

Yea I was not anticipating this at all. If I had to take a little off I honestly wouldn't care but this is pretty damn bad imo.

yeah right lol, last year my diff broke, my clutch glazed over and rainbowed the pressure plate and flywheel and my fan broke on the dyno resulting in some ptw contact and a .020 overbore. Its not just cams.
check out the last pic i uploaded today with the s2 cam matched up to my 01 itr cam that they were supposed to replace in my engine

Skunk2 cams are chilled cast and do not have holes in them like Oem steal cams. Those are fake skunk2 cams brother. Sorry to hear that you got taken but those are fakes for sure.

I just put a set of skunk2 tuner 1 cams in my GSR turbo like about a month ago and they didnt have the holes on them like yours. Sorry to say those are fake skunk 2 tuner 1 cams you have there. Brake them in half and end the cycle... Watch the video in the link below, that should answer your question if your still in doubt if there fake.

I also have a set of these same "skunk2" cams. Bought them from a HT member ( Nathan Thompson from Kentucky ) that refused to refund my money claiming they were legit. Where did you purchase these?

i did measure the intake lobes vs my 01 itr cams with the dial calipers and they were a lil bigger with what appears to be similar duration.
im filing a claim dispute with my cc company tomorrow (hope for the best) and now just curious what cams they actually are
