ive seen the apexi filters on Supras, are we SURE we all know what we are saying? Doesn't a filter create a velocity stack for the air coming into the compressor housing?

Bump to get flammed

I rather stick with an Apexi Filter
Check out the test.

You're better off running no filter than having the HKS Filter.

Apparently on ian's (clendaniel) car his air filter actually collapses at boost......he made 2 dyno runs, one with one without....... made around 14 more horse without the filter

If ya need a K&N go here - http://www.performanceintl.com/shop/index.html

They have like 3000 sizes of universal K&N filters. Get the biggest you can fit and it'll flow the most.

seriously, when i put on the apexi, it is COMPLETELY night and day.
makes me not even, once i felt how my car pulls without the filter, it
really feels like i lost 40whp. without the filter it just pulls that much harder.

you know the feeling when you hit boost and your steering wheel starts swirving?
that feeling is completely gone after i threw on the filter.

someone IMed me and brought up a point.

my tuner tuned my car without filter, so a/f ratio was good.
i slapped on the filter, which will somewhat affect the a/f ratio correct?
i felt a big loss in power.
so if i go retune, with the filter on, and get the a/f ratio back to where
it needs to be, do you see me being able to get that 'loss' power back?

There is also 2 different sizes (that I know of, there probably is more) for the Apex'i intake. 80mm and 85mm, if not bigger ones for different applications. Measure yours and see what yours is, that may be your problem.

If you really feel like you are losing that much power, then just take the damn thing off. Take your chances and put a screen on it. I know people that have driven years with only a screen.

Japan, much like China, land of the gimmicks. I really have a hard time putting my faith in some test run by a Japanese guy and a vacuum cleaner or whatever. What happens to the dirt that the Apexi filters out? Does it dissintegrate? Does it fall off? I don't get it. K&N is dyno proven. I'm not going to argue it over and over, but I thought I'd give some input. Whoever said "apex is the best ever" (or whatever) is talking out of his ***. I doubt he has seen a more realistic and controlled test performed, much less dyno results.

Call me a filter **** ... I'll stick with K&N

Also..foam filters sucked. They sucked back in the 60s, and they still suck today. They filter for crap, and they fall apart with time.

Also, might just be me but the K&N doesn't look like it's oiled in the test picture.

Either way....they state that the Apexi is zero maintenence, which is physically impossible.

Enjoy

i'm using the HKS super powerflow mushroom filter and i didn't notice any difference. when i had my car for dyno tuning, the tuner took the filter out to see if there's any difference in power but there was no difference.

Thats exactly how I felt the day I got mine

Not that it's a honda but my friend(Turbo miata) whos making pretty good power, switched from on open velocity stack to an Apex. Actually the were on the dyno, tuning the car, and he had the Apex in the car, so out of curiosity they slapped it on to see what happened and bam, he gained I think it was 14-15 hp simply by adding the Filter.

For the locals im talking about Andrew that worked a Jotech with the Red turbo Miata.
