Anyone Cut into the Cross Member to Make the Intercooler fit??
I recently put the I.C. on-- but Unfortunately it sits WAY too low. My friend told me that alot of people cut out pieces of hte cross member to get the intercooler to fit higher. Anyone Have a Teg out there and have a PWR intercooler and have to do the same thing??? It looks really awkward like it is so i'd like to make it sit higher.

There are a few people on HT with cut up or totally removed bumper supports. I think cramerox took it out to fit his greddy type-24 on his teggy...that fmic is like 10 inches tall

Don't cut it just unbolt it. You mean the Bumper not the Cross member...and I mean Bumper not the Bumper Cover...the straight Metal piece infront of your car....I'm sure It can just unbolt

I had to remove the front bumper support when I installed my pwr/full race intercooler. The front bumper support is rated for 10mph safety, so your not going to lose much safety by removing it. Its 4 bolts total and it comes off.

Wow really? it seems like you'd decrease safety a lot by removing it ( it seems pretty diesel yo )...if that's the case then i may just keep my type-24

So that whole metal support bar can be cut off? What are the big black boxes on the corners? I think those are for the airbags, correct?? I think i'm just going to cut into it enough to tuck the PWR in enough so that it fits.

the big black boxes are your slow speed impact bumpers... or atleast on my car thats what they are, but i have an eclipse.. so i might be wrong.

lol, yea, its about twice the size of my old fmic. i was actully running one of the fmic's from the drag kits that i bought from BenatImportParts...but, i have a built bottom end now and wanna run a lil more boost, got a great deal on this from a DSM group buy - core is 24x12x3

my brother cut off my cross member and replaced it with a 2 inch steel bar. unfortunately, it snapped in half today as i was driving, didnt even realize it, so i dont think it would make that much of a difference if you cut pieces chunks out of it. good luck.

the problem that some people forget is that 3rd gen tegs and 5th gen civics are different than 2nd gen tegs and 4th gen civics.
Unlike the newer model hondas, the older models need that bumper support to hold on teh bumper cover and everything. BUt I will find a way to get rid of it just because I hate those things

I got a little more room but it is still gonna be a pain putting in my 29x10.5x2.9
Should be interesting, more than that I got to figure out a subtle bumper modification to open up the front a tad without cutting it to ****.
