Anyone block off the H20 heater hose to the intake manifold?? (b18c1)
I tried searching but couldnt come up with the correct combo of words to convince the search function to give me results...
Anyway, I was pondering as to whether or not the heater line (from the cooling system) going into the intake manifold does more harm than good. I am sure if you took it off, the car would take forever to warm up, but it would also keep the intake much cooler resulting in more power, less detonation.
Does anyone know if it's possible with the b18c1 and pros/cons?
I run a built b18c1 with 14 psi, and my IM seems really really warm after I drive it much at all.

i blocked mine off, becaue the OBDII manifold in my OBDI chassis was a tad bit different, there wasnt anything to hook it to, so i had to block it off.
and the one for the heater core, i just looped it back to the other side of the motor cause my hater core had a hole in it, plus i lived in south florida, didnt really need the heater!

Are you talking about the larger line or smaller line on the intake manifold ..... if you are talking about the larger one that goes from the intake manifold to the thermostat housing if you remove that and still run a thermostat the car will over heat ...because the thermostat will not open once warm and no coolant will flow threw the radiator to alow it to cool.....

I guess you could tee off the heater core line on the side of the head so the t-stat housing still gets coolant and cap off the opening on the intake manifold. then it should work normal ....... what i meant was you can not just remove the line and cap both ends unless you remove the t-stat....

Re: (Mr T)
Thanks, I guess if there are no noticable gains, I may just leave it alone, but I may do it just b/c theoritically it should cool down intake temps a bit.
