Anybody have a SMALL turbo to donate for an engineering comp?
Formula SAE, each school makes a formula car, NIU (my school) uses a turbocharged 600cc motorcycle motor (suzuki) and we need a new turbo as ours blew up last year Anybody have a small turbo to donate or sell to us cheap? We can send you pictures of the car and keep you posted on our progress if you wish, looking for something with an A/R of less than .5 probably quite a bit less, but we'll take what we can get!! Turbo must be in decient condition as we will beat the hell out of it during the competition.
(our current turbo just about fits in the palm of your hand )

I wanna see a picture of this "palm of your hand" turbo!! I reccomend someone donate a ihi-rb5 VW turbo to this man... That should suit you niceley.
That's about as small as a monkey nutt, as well. Check ebay, you might be able to get an alright price on one if nobody has one to give away, as well. Otherwise, a .42/.48 t3 might do you niceley.. or an owner junked dsm t25 even better?

T-25 is about twice the size of our current one! I'll try to sneak my camera in and get some pics tomorrow, last years car is pretty cool, but this years will be great if we can get some money, so far we don't even have enough money to pay our $600 entrance fee and $800 steel bill. But we're working on the sponsor thing... Thanks for the bump

Yeah, that was one of the first things I did as team lead was to get sponsors. We got all the metal donated and free travel and food. As for the rest of the team...it ended up being a 4 man wrecking crew all the way from Cali to Pontiac.

A K03 is a good bit smaller than a T25. Even better would be something like an IHI RHB3, a Garrett T2, or an MHI TC05-09. The K03 or the RHB3 would be my first choice though.

No problem. I asked a kid on the SAE team here if they used turbochargers last fall. His answer: "we're not into ricing out the car." I guess they're not into winning either...

you have to run a 20mm restrictor on the car, so turbo is one of the only ways to actually get the motors back up around 100hp. Last year our engine put out 103hp on the engine dyno

I'm exactly sure, but isn't it a 20mm restrictor for NA cars and a 19mm restrictor for FI cars?
