any new developments in e-cutouts?
are there any ways to keep stock exhaust and use an e-cutout to bypass everything and dump to a straight pipe?
i know cheesefrog had a good setup but the cutouts couldnt stand the heat of being so close to the turbo and would fail.
is there a reliable solution out there?

check out the VES from http://www.atpturbo.com. its kinda like a wastegate combined with an ecutout.
yeah. i am afraid the butterfly style cutout is always going to have leaking / rattling / noise problems though. and there is a plastic diaphragm in that gold colored actuator - the heat is going to kill it just like it kills the motors of the e-cutouts.
and that thing has no warranty that i see.

I've been using a Setup similiar to Cheesefrog's setup on my Daily driver.
Havent had to many problems with it, Been on the car for a good 5-6 months
I pulled it apart last night actually, and it was starting to loosen up, glad i caught it in time.
It definatly leaks a bunch, Ive tried massive amounts and small amounts of silicone and It doesn't help much. The silicone doesn't like to stick very long.
Other than that no problems really. I rarely close the thing.
I think the people who run around with them closed all the time are the ones who run into problems with them.
Its a quicktime valve

I had the mccord, ran it closed, and opened it alot. It lasted about 2-3 weeks, completly broke. Rattling, stripped gears etc. .
I talked to the person who I bought it from (Mccord) and he told me he would send me the replacement gears. Never received anything.
Now I just run open DP.

slightly (way) off topic, but where can I get a flange to bolt up a QTP cutout? I bought a 2.5''inch dump but need a flange to weld on.
so basically e-cutouts are not a viable option for a long term solution.
hrm. i reall wish i was creative enough to come up with something better. somthing using electromagnets to clamp the exhaust shut or open it, it would open quickly and have no motor/gears.

I use a cutout with a blackoff plate held on by 3 wingnuts...
Im not too lazy to loosen 3 wingnuts when i know i got a run coming up..

maybe you get get the e cutout and instead pressing the button somehow hook it up to your ecu when you a full throttle.
you could put the button under you gas pedal and when you press it in all the way it presses the button

yeah there are ways to do that, i've done it in the past.
the problem is the cutout itself and preventing it from leaking/failing. i have some good ideas on the back burner right now...
