Any high HP Vitara "Nipon Racing Piston" builds?
Hi members
I have a little problem with the turbocharged build I am doing.
We all know that the YCP Vitara pistons have been proven to be great.
But the YCP Vitara piston are a -16cc dish piston. (YCP does not make the -11cc dish piston)
The "Nippon Racing Piston" Vitara pistons are -11cc.
If I use the YCP in my build I am going to have a CR of 7.3:1+-
If I use the "Nippon Racing Piston" in my build then CR will be 8:1+-
I want it to be responsive and not dead when not boosting low down so I want the higher CR.
I can not use a thinner head gasket for technical reasons.
I have been searching a lot but have seen no concrete evidence of the Vitara "Nippon Racing Piston" hold up good power
I saw one person on this forum that seemed to be using "Nippon Racing Piston" Vitara pistons with around 350HP
I have seen some good input on the brand itself but not for the Vitara pistons in the "Nippon Racing Piston" brand.
A little info on "Nippon Racing Pistons"
"our pistons are centrifugally spun castings which makes the best Hypereutectic piston available"
"Our pistons are made 100% with virgin aluminum with a higher content of copper and zinc"
I am looking at no more than 350whp.
Stand alone and other needed items along with a good tune will be used.
Or must I call it a day and go with the famous YCP Vitara pistons and live with the low CR?
I am at 6000ft above sea level and rule of thumb here is to have a CR of 8.5:1 for most boosted applications.
Thanks in advance for input on the pistons I want to use

What rods were you planning on running?
I'm guessing eagles right? If you run YCP pistons with eagles you get 7.5:1 C/R
Thats why you need to run custom length rods instead of eagles. YCP is the proven vitara piston that will hold 500+ whp.
There are 2 companies that make custom length D series forged rods, these rods are designed to work with YCP pistons, and make 8.5:1 C/R because they are a bit longer than stock.
FJ distributors makes them, but seems like lately you can't get anything from them.
Check out this rod/ piston combo:
http://p2p0.com/?wpsc-product=ycp-75...rods-combo-d16
These are TRUE PM3 bore 75mm YCP vitaras with teflon coating, and forged custom length Rods for 8.5:1 C/R.
Because these pistons are a true PM3 diameter, you can use them with just a light hone and get good P2W cledarances, no loosy goosy piston slap like old vitaras, and no need to bore to 75.5mm making the sleeves weaker.
God damn, I feel like I should work for this company as many people as I tell about this set up, but it really is the very best $400 you could spend on a D block to be able to handle 400+ whp.

Thanks for the input guys The data I gave you are hard facts.
No fiddling with my currant rods or skimming the block.
The head can be skimmed a bit that is it
Yes there are a lot of high HP Vitara piston builds but that is by using YCP brand pistons.
Any high power "Nippon Racing Piston" Vitara piston builds?
There is a lot of talking of the YCP is the only piston that works for high power but why not "Nippon Racing Piston"? As far as I know there is no proof that the "Nippon Racing Piston" are made of a poorer material than the YCP pistons?

Re: Any high HP Vitara "Nipon Racing Piston" builds?
I have built 2 engine with nippon vitara 75.5mm. First i sold(d16 dohc) and now running z6. Milled head 1mm too and skunk2 hi comp valves. 23psi made 365hp at crank with holset hy35. Run 7800rpm with stock cam/springs for now. Max boost was last summer 27psi, also done some circuit racing, compression test was ~12bar each cylinder and leakdown 10,7,5,10 with cold engine after ~5000miles. Bored piston to wall clearance 0.08mm. Best 1/4 speed 123mph. So far seems good piston.

I was going with YCP but got NA pistons so sold them and go with nippon.

Awesome! Hope there are more of you out there!
"Nippon Racing Pistons" are supposed to be really good, I mean they a spun cast!!
These are the -11cc dish pistons I want to use!

Where did you buy these? And are they "NPR" or "Nippon Racing Piston" ?
Are these pistons in your currant build with the stated figures?

They will tell me that "YCP" is the only piston that can be used. And YCP is normal cast.
No one there trayed the Nippon Racing Pistons.
It is called brand blinded
But thanks anyway bud

Re: Any high HP Vitara "Nipon Racing Piston" builds?
I know you're talking about a d series here. But I am using the 81.5mm nippon cast pistons that look like oem but are supposed to be stronger casting in a ls-v. I dd it at 400whp and rev it to 8k I put the motor together a year ago and haven't had any problem with the bottom end.
