Any experience with Leitner&Bush T-Top sleeves?
or their sleeving work in general? I've been hearing instances of GE and Darton sleeves dropping, but i've never really heard much about L&B sleeving...
my friend told me they did this guy's motor, someone pretty big in the east coast import scene but i forget his name, and his motor is supposedly holding up pretty welll
their pricing is pretty good..plus I live in michigan so I can drive out there too

Re: Any experience with Leitner&Bush T-Top sleeves? (CivicSoul)
L&B is known in the Toronto/Ontario region as one of the best, if not the best, in putting motors together and I haven't heard of one bad experience with any of the guys I know that got thier sleeves T-top'd there. I'm planning on getting mine done as soon as I have more $$$$
Ultimate Racing and Defcon Racing get some of their customer motors sleeved, port n' polished, etc. there.

I live in toronto, and I got mine done there about 2 months ago....
Cost was 1500cdn (with taxes), so around 1k US. This included sandblasting the **** off my old block, borning and honing it to fit my new larger pistons, etc.
Some people have mentioned possible overheating, but i've had the motor running for a week now with no problems (in NA form). Should have the turbo completed later tonight to start to see what it can do. I'm hoping to race it this weekend at the track too (if it doesn't rain).
Here's a pic of my block when I got it back:

I used a Cometic HP gasket. note my block is not o-ring'd....you can't use the HP gaskets with o-ring'd blocks. Had the car running for a while last night and NO heating problems at all!

You CAN use Cometic MLS gaskets with o-rings. We do that all the time. Just don't use the HP's.

hmm
any reason to run cometics over stock? i've heard instances of cometics not sealing correclty and all kinds of associated BS that makes OEM a better choice...it seems to be fine holding 13 lbs of boost right now for me...

I'm not stock bore.
honda doesn't make stock gaskets in a bore to fit my block.
I went with cometic cuz they make the overbored gasket for my application.
You will be fine on 13psi with a stock headgasket.

I just recently had my block done through Leitner. I went to dyno it today and guess what CRACKED sleeve! That's right and it's not the first of this happening. Another block along with mine is being sent out for the exact same problem. Cylinder #3 right side cracked on mine and his. Doesn't look too promising, they are willing to replace the sleeves but what a pain in the ***. This shouldn't be happening.

Re: (GEN2TEG)
Gen2Teg...this EXACT same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago!
First time it got into boost it cracked in teh #3 between #2 and #3....
Steve Lietner's on vacation this week, so I won't know till next week what they're gonna do about it. My Rods, pistons and Rings are PERFECT too after dissassembly. After carefully inspecting the block, it looks like the sleeve clearences are too tight between the #2 and #3. There was a small gap between # 3-4 and #1-2, but #2-3 was SOOOO tight, I couldn't even fit a feeler guage of ANY thickness in there. I think that might have something to do with it.
I'll talk to Steve on monday and get it figured out....

Well Im good friends with Tarcy and I just had my engine done by thenm as well. the completely took it apart and rebuilt it. I also tried to call Steve cause I am worried and my engine hasnt even been put back into the car yet. He's back on monday so I will call him then as well to see why the hell alot of his sleeves are cracking in what seems to be the same spot!
I mean its hard to understand when they have majour boosted cars running 25+psi daily and they have zero problems with the sleeves and not all of them are o ringeed either.
I just hope that mine is alright cause Its june, my car will be done in 2 weeks and the last thing I want and Chris (mech) wants is another car to blow up!

Re: (hoya_10fintec)
hoya_10fintec - I wouldn't say that.
UPDATE
I got word back today from Steve.....He's being REALLY good about this. He said he's gonna take care of this for me. I plan to get the block back in the car later this week, this way I can break in my motor next week for the race at gingerman in 2 weeks. The Gingerman event is a road course, so these sleeves are ment to take the abuse....I mean, the top drag cars all use these sleeves and they are becoming very consistent and not breaking....That's why I went with these T-top sleeves in teh first place. I'll keep you guys updated...
B18C GSR CIVIC - I wouldn't worry about your block....I'm sure mine was just a fluke, I've had lots of other machinig done with Lp before and they did a fantastic job.
GEN2TEG - you brought up some interesting points in PM....can you elaborate more on how long your block was running/conditions/etc before you had the problem?

I too spoke to Steve from Leitner Performance and he seemed really nice about the whole situation. I have faith in his companies work as there are cars out there with motors built from them that are running fine with no problems. Im taking this as a fluke and nothing more, i know Steve will do what he can to help us out.
