b18b at same boost level will make more torque less hp than b16a vtec at the same boost level.
most b16 usually put around 210hp at 5psi and most b18b push out around 200hp but the torque on b16a is about 20 lower than most b18b

B16a : better rod/stroke ratio, which means less side loading on the cylinders. Something that is definatly bennificial, expecially when making much more HP than stock.

Oh boy here we go again....
If the search function works now, try to do a search because this topic has been discussed already. I remember people got mad during the discussion about b18b vs b16... It was a heated discussion.

hmmm on a t04e im preety sure your going to be over 200whp on 5psi. Besides vtec is for losers I choose the b18b because i didnt feel like being bothered with vtec and all its problems with tuning and everything. Its just something else to tune. Besides if I ever want more power all i need to do as add a vtec head. Im preety sure im going to be very satisfied with my turbo ls setup.

i have a turbo b16 and personaly would rather have a turbo b18b. displacement is beter than vtec for turbo. and if u have a heavyer car like an integra over acivic the torq from the b18 is deffinatly needed. go with the b18 less work and more fun.

[RANT] HP = High RPM Torque, think about it.
Horsepower is just a calculated measurement generated from torque.
I hate this torque Horsepower debate ****. gives me a headache, it all depends on what YOU want, where you want YOUR powerband, and what kind of car it is.
generally lower rpm torque is what is wanted on the street, but higher HP (high rpm torque) cars do DAMN FINE.
I've had many many many debates about this, lets not do another. PLEASE
[/RANT]
Brad
oh yea, based on what i've seen, b16 turbo baby!

im surprised no one has mentioned, ls/vtec yet best of both worlds. I normally would have choose not to do ls/vtec becaue of the hassle to do the conversion, but since Viren assembled it for me I have nothing to worry about.
Has anyone seen the dyno ImportReview posted of the b16?
324 whp and 197lbs of torque................

dur, b18 cuz it will make more power dur? THe only reason the b16 will put out similar hp #'s is cuz it revs higher. My b18 will decimate all

I think the biggest advantage of either set up is so that durning these debates u can actually have ur own car to refer too when claiming which motor u think is better.

HAHA! I brought this old topic back up! I have a 1990 Integra Hatchback; so I should just turbo my b18 instead of a b16 if I want to **** and get down the 1/4 mile. Correct? Gotta rebuild the b18 and get another tranny though (228k on it and the 3rd and 4th gear synchros are messed up).

torque will get you off the line and thats a fact. there are more varibles to worry about went tuning a b16 vs the ls. The bigger the engine will come out to more power in the long run. I got a b16 and I love it but when I get done blowin it up it is gonna be time to build and boost the **** out of a ls...

Stock for stock, more reasons why i like the B16a better:
Oil squirters: help cool the pistons, expecially with factory cast pistons this is an advantage.
Knock sensor: although it will only retard ignition a few degrees.
