Default Anti-lag

hey guys,

alright so I am sure "anti-lag settings" is an object that has been used and abused... I AM SORRY! lol! Another one... but with a little more needed knowledge...

I am currently running a b18c fully built, boosted, with s300 (no trac control), tuned on 93 it's making 505whp (if more info is needed, please ask I'll be happy to explain). I will be running 24.5's stock trans (ratio's/final)...

here's where I am confused... I see a lot of people asking to make more boost on the anti-lag/launch control. I assume these are big power monsters with longer 1st's and finals or even maybe even medium power guys like me... In my situation, with stock ratios/final, would it be better to build 10+psi in the beams, or -10psi? I am thinking traction issues with more than 10... That just IMO... Now, here's another question... If I am running boost by gear and my launch control settings allow for boost to be built above 10+psi but boost by gear for 1st is at 8psi for example... Will I build boost beyond 8psi with the car in 1st in the beams? Of course I'd love to be throwing the nice eye candy anti-lag flames/pops and wowing the spectators, but I want to get this all figured out first before I start experimenting with that...

Thanks

No doubt anti-lag works, but just because it works doesn't make it a smart thing to do. If you can't afford to be swapping out turbos regularly then anti-lag is not for you. It drastically reduces the life of your turbo.

@4dr, not saying I am a money bags or anything, but if it works and gets me to where I want, then I guess it'll be a sacrafice I'll have to deal with.

@ls, We'll see... Was hoping for some info instead of str8 jumping into the fire, but that looks like that what it will be...

@Kevin, I know exactly what you mean...

Well, thanks for the replies guys, I guess it's find out my own way... Which I am cool with...

Thanks!

Can't help you with the traction question because there are guys running 11's and guys running 9's on the same tire with factory gear ratios. Tire is just one variable among many more, in terms of allowable traction.

For the launch, the ECU still assumes you are in 1st gear. If you are building full boost off the line, the wastegate will open to manage the boost. It won't build past 8 PSI, if you have programmed 1st gear to have WGDC to target for 8 PSI.

Launch control and anti lag are two very different things...

and just for the record the s300 and any other Honda ecu based tuning method cannot produce a real anti lag system... simply a 2 step and 3 step launch control.
