Default Another 300whp SOHC Vitara setup

Finally got around to finishing and tuning the new setup. I'm very happy with the results, the car is my daily, so a safe tune was a priority along with power and fun. A big thanks goes out to SpeedFactory, specifically Ricky and James (JFK78) for the fabrication and tuning.

The setup is the basic d16z6 vitara/eagle built by myself.
stock head
75.5mm bore
vitara pistons
npr rings
eagle rods
acl bearings
t3/t4 57 trim .63ar
mini ram manifold
custom backdoor intercooler
2.5in cold side piping
3in Dp to 3in exhaust
precision 680cc
walbro 255hp
Action 2ms

I might be forgetting some things, but thats pretty much the essentials. Was tuned on 92oct.

The car is a 90 civic sedan with bfg 205 drag radials.

There was a weird detonation issue when the first pull at 18psi was made, pulled more timing and it never came back, then added some and it never came back. So it might have been a bad batch of fuel. James could probably provide some more insight, since i wasn't actually there when it happened.

Anyways, this is where it ended up at. It's a blast to drive on the street, but the ef chassis is a little squirrelly so some re-enforcements will probably be made in the future.

(Ignore the gt30 on the graph, thats incorrect )

300whp 250lbft @ 18psi on a dynapack dyno.

Here's some pictures of the setup and the car.

Any comments/concerns/suggestions are welcome.

Well, i hope i wouldn't need to replace the turbo anytime soon. Its a real garrett and it only has ~ 150miles on it now.

Really like your setup.

Great #'s.

I agree on 88-91's being a bit squirrelly. Ive never felt comfortable going through the traps at over 120 in mine.

Awesome set up. Makes me want my cp/eagle y8 build to get done sooner now!

How do you like the Action 2ms? Any chatter? Hows the pedal feel?

Thanks man! Again, awesome EF.

Yep. The only thing i've done to the suspension is lowering it on koni/gc's. I'm thinking a roll bar will add some much needed strength to the chassis. I don't really feel like putting a full cage in it since i still drive it on the street.

I know what you mean! I took quite a bit longer to get this setup finished, but it was definitely worth the wait.

To be honest this Action 2ms is the only 6puck that i've driven. My previous turbo zc had a act heavy duty in it. The pedal is kinda stiff, but its not bad. I'm still getting used to driving around in traffic with it though haha.

Does it grab good with the 300FWP?

My y8 will be 300-350whp daily driven so I want to make sure I get a clutch that will grab good and still last a decent amount.

* I know clutches are rated at wtq *

Also, who made that manifold set up? I was looking at an RC one.

* Build looks awesome again. *

did you forget to wipe down the runners before the initial startup or is that just how theyre supposed to look like? great looking setup either way. what tops it off is that the setup went into an EF 4dr, a clean one none the less.

great numbers man! I've always wanted to do a D-series vitara build. Gotta love those "shorty" style manifolds the torque curve you get from those is outstanding. Very nice

The clutch grabs really hard, thats why i'm not really used to it yet. haha I don't know the exact rating for the 2ms, but there are plenty of d-series owners in the 300-400+ range running it or the action 2md(unsprung version). I wouldn't have put it in my car if i didn't think it would hold up.

The manifold, backdoor setup and charge piping were all done by Ricky at SpeedFactory.

I wasn't there when the car was initially started, so i can't comment on that, but nonetheless i think it looks cool.

Thanks, i will admit that i did get lucky finding this clean of an ef. I've had it for a couple years and absolutely love the way people look at it now when i pop the hood.
