Anodizing Intercoolers...
Okay searched and couldn't find shiet...does anyone know if it will affect the performance of your intercooler if you anodize it? I am asking becuse i really dont like the idea of people being able to see an intercooler a mile away...i was thinking of black anodizing.
will the paint affect the cooling abilty of the intercooler? I always thought the paint will retain heat instead? So I figure anodizing may be easier, is there intercooler paint?
Anodizing is probably better. It dyes the metal. It actually goes into the metal, as opposed to paint which lies on top of the metal. As you may already know, many PC CPU cooling heatsinks are anodized black. Black anodized heatsinks can actually shed more heat than bare aluminum heatsinks due to some wierd physical property of colors. Good luck finding a cheap price though.
You might want to try doing it yourself. I've read some instructions on how to do it online. It doesn't seem too difficult, and the products you will need are not expensive. Companies who do anodizing charge lots because of environmental type rules (OSHA, EPA, etc..) companies have to follow. Fortunately for you, you are not a company, and so you do not have to follow those rules.
