Am I wasting gas?
94 honda civic cx body. jdm d16a motor (d16z6)
before i had a t3/t4 kit on. now i sold the turbo and is back to stock. my ecu was chipped by pherable to run on the turbo set up. the ecu now is running back on stock maps; i cut the wire on J1 in the ecu. i am running stock injectors now. 240cc. before i was running 550cc. pretty much everything is stock now beside my fuel pump. before, for turbo i switch out the stock civic fuel pump for an after market one. i remember its brand is malbro. well my question is am i now wasting fuel as much as before when i had turbo? thank you.

Those are cigarettes...Walbro makes fuel pumps
IF you're running the stock ecu and injectors, having the Walbro pump instead of the stock pump wont make a difference...

hehe sorry. i remember its something like that. but yeah, thats what i thought too but i contact pherable and ask them and they told me having a fuel pump like that will raise the fuel pressure and cause me to waste more fuel. i'm stump, thats why i turn to the great people on honda-tech...haha anyone else have any inputs?
oh..thanks for your input Schister66

If you have the Walbro 255lph, then you will be using a bit more gas as the pump flows more then the stock regulator can return so a little bit higher fuel pressures is the end result

i just went back to stock. i can't compare how much gas i'm getting just yet. but i will update as i start pumping. before i was getting about 200ish miles to a tank. i have a cx, so these are 10gal tank. it reaches E when it uses up only 8gal-ish. i'll keep you guys updated. thanks.
oh Tchleung, if you can explain to me how the fuel works with the pump and regulator and why am i wasting more fuel due to my bigger fuel pump; that would be great. thanks.

the stock fuel pressure regulator is restrictive and cannot flow enough thru thru return to keep up with the pressure and flow of the walbro 255. So instead of the 45 psi or so, you maybe actually be getting around 50. Varries on setups. It's like trying to pouring 10 litres down a 1" drain then all of a sudden pouring 15 litres down the same 1" drain. the drain can't keep up and in a sealed system like fuel, pressures rise.

okay, i'm planning to go to junkyard to part out a stock honda civic fuel pump. question is, how can i tell if it really is a stock fuel pump. is there anything i can look for to make sure it's the right one i'm looking for? thanks.

Walbro will have a stamp on their's, OEM will not, so just look around for a stamp. I didn't notice a difference in MPG when I swapped mine before I boosted my car.
