am i in deep ****?
i fisnish installing my turbo and took it out for a spin boosting on like 5 lbs. and on my third gear pull my engine shut off and it wont start no more. i pop the hood to check for leaks and stuff and found out my vacuum line to the wastegate is off. i heard that once the vacuum line is off it means unlimited boosting, is this true?

U probably overboosted and blew the motor
didnt u see more than 5psi???
check for holes on the block or oil pan
and check the dipstick for oil ...if none, u have a hole on the pan......
get under the car and look around.......

Yes you heard correctly. The vacuum line will supply the wastegate with manifold pressure which opens the wastegate to limit boost. So if that line was off, you would boost a lot, depending on what turbo you had and your rpm and engine load.

Very true, your wastegate can't read how much boost you are running.

Too much oil pressure? Over spun turbo, bad seals.
As for your motor, it's more than likely has a blown head gasket as everyone pointed out. You'll definitely want to do a compression test, if the numbers are off, you better pull the head to inspect the damage. You probably have broken ring lands too.

Re: (DubyaAye)
It was either the head gasket, or the sleeves. The oil coming out of the turbo is probably due to the increased blow-by going through your engine from roasting the pistons/rings/sleeves, and taking the easiest way out....through the oil return line, through the turbo.
This is the worst case scenario, but if your car just "shut off", its probably as bad as it gets...

Re: am i in deep ****? (DubyaAye)
sorry to hear.
so you took it out for a spin right after you installed it? not sure if it factors in, but did you at least allow some time for the seals to break in? i mean brand new turbo...leaking oil from the exh. side...

Re: am i in deep ****? (DubyaAye)
Thats what you get for ripping on the car without triple checking everything.
Should have driven it straight to a tuner without beating it.
I hope you have someone build the motor who knows what they are doing.

2.5 months is quite a while.....ive seen a lot of stupid people push more than they car or take their own hack at tunning and blow their engines within weeks.
