alternator problem?

alternator problem?
Alright i think this goes in this forum but please correct me if i'm wrong anyway heres the problem.
I was installing a smc 500 the other night and i had it wired wrong. tried starting the car a couple times ect ect and then all of a sudden the dome light inside got real dim and tried starting couple more times and then the battery just died. Anyway so now i remove it, re-wire CORRECTLY an vafc controller and put in a new battery i come to find my car still dying. I checked the fuses and the Alternator SP sensor fuse keeps blowing, we replaced the 7.5 fuse with a 15 fuse and it blew too. Checked the alternator made sure belt was tight and connectors were on. So this leaves me to ask? help?
also my mph gauge wont move at all now either.
