Air-Con Condenser Fan
Hi there - my first thread on H-T even though I've browsed these forums for over 3 years as I can usually find what I need in a search. This one I couldn't find a straight answer for though....so here goes.
My concern is over the A/C Condenser Fan, or rather the removal of it when fitting a Ram-Horn Turbo manifold. I live in Australia, so the functioning of Air-Con, especially on the East Coast of Queensland, is crucial to my daily driver.
I have an EM1 and I am interested in buying a Full-Race Stage 1 GT turbo kit but I am concerned (and have heard a few stories) about the A/C not being very cold, or the A/C condenser deteriorating quickly over time due to the heat made by the turbo. It is this that makes me want to buy a Log Manifold....
Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Muchly appreciated - thanks!

Re: (turbo_ls_69)
coatings and fiberglass wrap for the manifold / turbo will help. some log manifolds arent that bad either. also fit a pusher fan on the condensor to replace the stock one. while youre at it get some water injection and you're set.

Nice setup mate!
Is there a DIY/How to on this anywhere?
I'm interested in doing this myself if I can as I love learning stuff from DIY. Other than extending the A/C line, what else needs to be done - wiring?
Thanks for the help in advance!

Re: (turbodohcsi)
The EM1 should still use the half-rad half condensor deal as the other civics unless someone/you changed it. That means there's much more than 2.5" in front of it before it sticks out past the core support structure. If you relocate your PS cooler, or just recirculate & remove it alltogether, you can easily fit a 3" thick fmic in there like you normally would.
Ceramic coatings and/or fiberglass/ceramic wraps will help big-time too.

Thanks mate. Yep - it does have a half rad/half aircon setup as per normal - being RHD makes no difference to that.
I'm wanting to know if anyone has done or seen any write-ups on how to do the above modification. And whether I need different fans?

Re: Air-Con Condenser Fan (Muckman)
Muckman, what sizes did you use for your fans? Also did you notice the car get any hotter by putting them both on the condensor instead of the radiator at all? Im worried about overheating but would REALLY like to have more room to work with and fans on the front seem to work the best. Also how much is the AC relocation kit if you still make it.

Those are two 12" fans from B18bturbo. It would be easier to fit two 10" fans as I had to cut some of the shroud off. No difference in coolant temperature, moving or idle.
And yes I can still sell the AC line. Its $200 for the upper AC line. PM me for details, I dont want to come off like a vendor here.
