Default Aftermarket pistons but not rods??

I have a set of JE 9.1 pistons that I may put in an lsvtec to boost, but its definitely gonna be a budget build. How much boost or how much HP can be supported with stock rods? Or is it even worth it?

From what I've read, stock pistons and rods are good for up to roughly 250whp it looks like. I don't think I'd go very far past that mark, even with forged pistons, because your entire engine is only gonna be as strong as its weakest component, which in this case would be the still-stock rods.

Why not just buy some eagel rods. If your gonna be building I would wait until you could also get the rods.

250hp? now that i fixed all my leaks i should be putting down 300-320whp @ 13 psi on my stock ls. hell if it blows, a block is $100-$200

id do the same. you got some nice pistons. the first thing to go will be your rods, it almost makes no sence to me to buy one without the other. like forsfed said, go with at least some eagles.

Not worth it. Since you're on a budget just go for some Eagle rods and add a bunch of boost. Stock rods
