Default AFI Bottom mount manifold

Has anyone use this manifold? What is the benefits of using this design? Im looking to use this for at least 500whp setup. Looking for something different than a ramhorn. Any suggestions?

idk but that is VERY similar to full races and the Shearer Fab evot4......but this is t3
Of coarse itll make power but a couple of those bends are really severe coming straight outta the head. I dont think itll matter....

i used one on a single cam a while back....the car actually made great numbers. the welds looked nothing like that (in terms of the coloring) in person...and i wasnt too impressed with the fitment of the runners to the head flange....all in all it worked well.

I remember that design from 4 or 5 years ago, and DSMers use that design as well. Its nice, and works quite well.

how come I do not see many hondas use this design. If anyone has experience with this manifold please express yourself.

The manifold was designed similar to a topmount, somewhat l ike an inverted topmount, however retains placement of the turbo in a "typical" position.

The bottom-mount manifold is available as a divided piece, which is why the runners are paired that way.

Have used a couple on some customer's cars, did the job quite well.

It won't matter how they're paired if its undivided. The question to ask is why go undivided if you pick that manifold? The ramhorn is cheaper, and difference in runner length is almost negligable. I'd rather have consistent turns (turns that don't change often, like a ramhorn) than constant twists if I was trying to keep exhaust velocity highest.

Looks may be deceiving for you, all the manifolds carry a lifetime warranty

Will that manifold work with a huge turbo, say a 42R on there? I have seen them on topmount manifolds but have yet to see one with a bottom mount! Is there any pro or cons to using such a big turbo with this manifold?

Just double-checked, the off-shelf manifold will fit a 40r no problem.

There is modified version available of the Bottom-Mount manifold, which will clear the 42r with either a divided or undivided configuration, however you won't be able to run the A/C bracket/Torque Mount. But it will fit

Yeah, there is no reason to go undivided, the manifold is designed to accomodate a twinscroll collector, so why not get it that way.

A guy I know has had some of his customers use AFI manifolds, and most of them did not appear to be backpurged (last one was about 9 months ago). Other than that, he said they looked good and fit great. I'd assume it can make 600+ depending on the motor, as there have been a handful of 500+ whp LOG manifolds (cast and tubular).

i do like their top mount but I think top mount is getting too much played out. Looking for a different design.

yea the top mount is used alot but its for a good reason. The neukin top has less bends and welds then the competition.
