Maybe I am running to rich. I have my VAFC set at -35% for low rpm's and -34% for high rpms. And like I said, even when I am pinging my air fuel gauge reads rich (three-four green bars). I know this is probley a crazy question but can running too rich cause your car to ping????

Try -40% at 1k rpm's and maybe you will idle better. HTH

What about a MSD BTM or bring your timing back a few degrees or more? I remember on my motor (still not turboed yet) I got pinging using 89 octane so I just brought the timing back 2 degrees and it is better. I'm thinking timing advance would do this so I guess bringing back the timing is worth a try.

Good to here that taking out timing solved your problem. I will go ahead and give that a try. I would rather not use the BTM if I do not have to.

1. put your stock fpr back on
2. retard timing approx .5 deg for every lb of boost
3. use the afc to adj fuel (not the fpr)

have fun.

If the dyno has a wideband it would be the best place to determine the problem. You are either pinging from to much advance or from a lean mixture. You should be able to add more fuel with the AFC with out triggering the CEL.

Thanks guys.!! I uped my fuel pressure to 38psi (AEM FPR), and I took 2 more degrees of timing out (total of 4degrees retard), and the car runs great! I went out last night and did a couple of passes at 9psi and the pinging is gone. It pulls really hard and the air fuel gauge shows green all the way to red line. Monday I am going to R&D dyno to get it tuned and I will post the results then. Thanks again for the help.
