Default are AEM cam sprockets a good mod?

I'm wondering if installing aem cam gears and having it tuned on the dyno yields considerable gains on an FI car?

Depends on the car and the setup. Many people have reported substantial gains with cam gears and the JRSC. I had them on my B16A2 with a JRSC and they didn't really do much for me, regardless of settings.

they dont do much for forced induction, you can leave the inatke cam alone and maybe advance the exhaust cam a degree or two,you wont really know till you put it on a dyno, the best thing you can do is try to shift your power here and there to make it a more stock turbo feel.
