add pistons and rods: get a reliable 472 whp!
ive been messing with turbo d series motors for a while and i finally decided to go with a b series.
first one was a stock gsr crx at 7psi, made 240whp. turned up the boost to 13 and got 390 on a base tune! this was when i decided that b series is superior. its so hard to get that much out of a d series, even with a fully built motor (IMO, i know some may disagree, dont want to start any arguments). i also had that nice torque feeling and a quick spool, and it was easy!
so now i have arias pistons, pauter rods and a nice head/intake and made 472whp on 20psi with 93 octane. i put the new motor in an eg hatch with decent suspension and brakes. ill never mess with a turbo d series ever again! i forgot to get a printout but heres a couple pics.
total cost (including buying the car) is under $9k

it was boosted 13psi all last summer and lifted a head toward the end. stock headbolts didnt like that very much. i took the turbo stuff off and fixed the HG and its still running great! the gsr i have now is a different motor.

im really glad i kept the stock sleeves. its hard enough to keep it cool as it is. i think any more than what i have is unnecessary for the street.

stock sleeves - i dont believe in blockguards. 81.5mm pistons, rods and polished crank with ACL bearings. everything else is OEM.
portflow head, crower springs/retainers, gsr cams and ferrea valves. i love it, vtec changeover sounds like all motor with big cams. the intake is a venom. i think this combo really helped with the hp numbers. I think it wouldve been under 400 with a stock head.

dynapack at tuning factory in farminton hills mi. used an old hondata stage 3 that ive used on different setups for the past couple years.

Who makes that exhaust manifold? The first two straight runners coming out at that angle off the head is going to hurt power. But very nice setup indeed, enjoy it and be safe!

its a peakboost manifold. i believe they engineered it that way to have perfectly even flow in all 4 runners. they are in competition for non top mount highest hp numbers on b series manifolds, arent they?

very nice....you forgot to mention the motor has an 89mm crank(ls)...now get some race gas in it and see what it will really do lol

steve - i didnt know i had an LS crank lol... i thought it was the mating gsr crank from the block.
