act 6 puck->flywheel damage??
anyone using an act 6 puck disk have any problems or issues with the stock flywheel being broken or destroyed? ive recently been contemplating a 6 puck for my boosted ls, but i will go with the ss disk if the 6pucks are known for ruining stock flywheels in relatively short time frames.

This just sparked a question ....
How many times can you machine a flywheel until its below the "service limit" etc?

could it just wear thinner and crack?
im bringing my stock b18b flywheel to the machine shop tomorrow to get resurfaced for the first time i believe. ill ask if there is a limit on how many times they can resurface one.

I have seen a comptech flywheel get a nice wear groove put in it by an act 6 puck, hardly call it damage since thats what it does normaly. I think trying to slip it causes a lot of the wear. I also happen to run the same disc in my civic, flywheels are cheap so I'm going with the great performance over ultimate longevity.

Re: act 6 puck->flywheel damage?? (Bailhatch)
how long would i expect to get out of a stock flywheel with a 6 puck disk? the motor will be turbo within the next couple months, and i drive probably 200 or so miles a week. just kinda curious

a stock reman flywheel is so cheap, I wouldn't sweat just resurfacing or buying a new one. ****, I'd buy a spare just to swap in and out if you're worried about it.
This topic did pique my interest though since I'm using an Action 1MS 6puck. Only been on for 1500 miles so far and no problems. Love it.

Is it just the ACT 6 pucks that are known for this? I've read this in several places about the ACTs being prone to damaging flywheels. I have an ACT XTSS and I'm looking for a good sprung 6 puck to use with the ACT extreme pressure plate. I considered an Action MS, but they're $200 for just the disc alone. That seems pricey coming from a generic clutch company that doesn't have a website or reputation outside of Honda-Tech. Can anyone else recommend a good clutch disc? My XTSS still grabs hard, but I want to upgrade before I get a bigger turbo setup.

I ran an act 6puck for about 1.5-2 years. The flywheel only suffered minimal wear, and the disk itself actually still had some life on it after this. The pressure plate on
the other hand, was worn down about 2-3mm! I thought it was just the disk wearing
out, but the cheap *** aftermarket pressure plate was actually doing all the
wearing.
These guys are kinda on point here; it will wear your flywheel, but not as dramatically
as some people seem to think. Again, its something that a resurface will easily take care of.

i was originally gonna go xtss, but i changed my mind and went with hdr6. i guess it could be said for any 6 puck, i just put act in the title because thats what i was gonna buy
