ACL bearing help?? please
Ok ACL's are one size fits all for the most part i hear, but in honda world what color bearing would be one size smaller (tighter clearance) that ACL's thanks This is for a gen1 b16 rod bearing. thanks again

lol, thats why I use factory bearings

ACLs are actually good bearings. A better choice over OEM in my opinion, especially because of the price.
Read what earl has to say about ACLs in this thread.

let me rephrase that.. I have actually used ACL bearings and have had no problems with them, but I PREFER using factory bearings. I get my mains and rods right on .0015 and sometimes that requires 2 different color bearings.
Example, engines I just really dont care about, I just slap in some cheap ACL bearings, and with ones I care about I use factory bearings.

Earl you can debat all day long about ACL bearings and I could careless,
I come out about .0015 - .0017 everytime, at times it does suck that I have to buy a bunch of different combanations of bearings and some I dont even use, then have to go back to the dealer and re-order some more bearings. But I'm getting a nice little collection.

What makes you so sure that stock clearances are best for a not stock engine?
As earl has said before, only Honda uses the color coded bearing system, every other car manufacturer gets by fine without it.

Because I know what works ? I havent been doing this **** for the past 5 years for nothing.
And Honda is not the only one who uses it, lets try Nissan/Infinity/Mitsubishi but the really good manufactors like Kia and Hyndai use the good ol 1 size fits all.

OEM
for the true hardcore builder who fully blueprints his engine with a dial bore guage and micrometer.....
ACl
for the average person who wants to save 120 bucks and get a good set of bearings he can check with plastiguage. If one of them is off he can stop by honda and buy the bearing halfs individually at 12 bucks a peice...
The last engine I built was a H22a .... the block asked for all greens on the mains but was stamped wrong .... Turns out that I had to get a brown for # 3 because the acl was way to loose ...
Important point in Engine building --- NEVER Assume anything ! tripple check all your measurements.
