Default Ack!

Ok so... after basically completely modding my car, it's time to fire it up.

It turns on, and exhaust is dumping out of the dumptube, sounds like it's not running a fire ring. I take the 38mm tial off, and low and behold, the fire ring is in there, no problems.

Anyone know why it might be leaking from there?

my thoughts too, the flange is probably warped.

nah man, the 38mm still needs a gasket. the 44mm uses a v band and needs no gasket.

every tial 38mm gasket ive seen blows out after about 15 minutes... ive seen great results just using the fire ring (on a machined flange) and tightening till snug

i have a tial 44mm, it leaks everywhere BUT the v-band

I never ran a gasket on my 38mm becuase of all the stories I heard. Never had a problem leaking for 50k miles. I never ran one from the mani/turbo and turbo/dp either. As long as everything is true you should be fine.

The exhaust is coming out of the dumptube? or is it coming from where the wg meets the mani?

he said out of the dumptube... which could mean either he has a fucked up spring, a bad valve, a bad wastegate or the flange is warped and the fire ring isnt seating right and its leaking through the wastegate

Yeah, out of the dumptube... like an open exhaust.

It's a brand new Tial 38mm. Fire ring looks flat. I'm stumped.

yea if its coming out of the dumptube then its probably not the fire ring. It has to be something wrong thats letting the valve open.

I tapped a pressure source off my lower intercooler pipe coming right off my turbo.

I doubt it has 8.75psi of pressure, but do you think it could be somewhat related?
