Accel DFI
I am thinking about buying an accel Dfi. I am buying it used so I was wondering if it could store memory in it after it is unhooked? I am also wondering what is involved in installing one? Do I need any software or a laptop to tune it if I just have a dyno shop do the tuning? thanks for the help

Re: Accel DFI (dragsol)
major tuning on the dyno or on a street tune with the tuner in the passenger seat with a laptop.
there are a lot of additional sensors to the dfi that don't come standard in the package. like the cold air idle, knock, map, etc. make sure you're getting what you need.
you also need to get an rpm window switch to activate vtec if that applies.

Re: Accel DFI (bgod)
How much would all of the sensors cost if they werent included? What is needed for the window activation switch? Do I rewire the car to install the unit or does it just mainly replace the ECU? Do I need all of the sensors to run the system? Do I need spftware with the unit to tune it or should a tuning shop have that?

all the sensors u need come out to about 500 or a little less... as for installing it... u CAN use your stock harness... but everything is rewired at one end at least... or u can use the dfi harness and adapt it to your car... how much is he selling it to u for and what are u getting with it... that should guage if its a good deal or not

Re: Accel DFI (ek9t)
I am getting a t3/t04 turbo, big xs ineneering intercooler, hotshot manifold, accel DFI, hks blowoff valve, boost and A/F gauge, NGK spark plugs, turbonetics wastegate, and no piping for 2500 dollars. Does that sound like a good deal.

Make sure you have a good tuning guy before you install the dfi. You will never figure it out yourself. The dfi box saves the last tune-up it had but it could be completely wrong for you. You need the program and a special connecting cable to do your own tune-ups. But if you mistune at any high rpm points...kiss it goodby

Check out the Autronic web sight. It's a stand alone made by the guy who designed Motec. It is fairly cheap and is SELF tuning if you tell it what you want the end results to be.

Re: Accel DFI (Liltrix)
the dfi is proven and there's no point to explore another option. the only problem you have here is that you're buying it used.
you should never buy a stand alone used unless you know what you're getting and if it's complete.
also, the deal mentioned above seems a bit too good to believe.

Re: Accel DFI
the DFI only includes the box. How much would all of the sensors and harness cost to put it on my car? The DFI will go on a 92 civic hatchback with a h22a motor. I have not started the wiring yet so would the Dfi take care of my wiring problems or should I get the car running with the stock ecu first? To get it to run with the stock ecu it will cost 310 dollars for wiring so I would like to know if this is necesary. thanks for all of the help.

Re: Accel DFI
The Accel DFI that I am buying comes with the pigtail harness and a 3 bar map sensor. What esle would I need to get it to function in my turbo powered prelude? What will everything cost that I will need to get it to work? thanks for all of the help.

Re: Accel DFI (dragsol)
Is this going to be a street car or a drag car? If it is going to be a street car, you will need to retain your factory ECU to have the dash gauges still function. I don't know about the DFI, but Speed-Pro makes a some what "Plug and Play" harness, that plugs into most of the factory sensors on hondas. We are in the process of installing a Speed Pro in my 95 Si (GSR Turbo).

Re: Accel DFI (Liltrix)
Can I use any of my factory sensors because the accel DFI that I am buying comes with only the 3 bar sensor? What other sensors would need if I cant use any factory sensors? What is involved in installing a Accel DFI? thanks for all of the help.

Re: Accel DFI (Liltrix)
In the 92-up Civics you need the stock ECU to control the ABS, Tach, and Speedo.
I am assuming the Honda Sensors send the same signal as the GM sensors, since both the DFI and Speed-Pro use the GM style sensors and my Speed-Pro harness plugs right in. If that is the case you should be able to use your existing TPS, IAT, and Coolant Temp sensors. You will have to use a GM style IAC which is a 4 wire, the Honda has only 2 wires.

Re: Accel DFI (Turbo EG6)
Thats not true either. U will need the ABS ECU for the ABS but for the Speedo and Tach U will not have a problem, I am not guessing, this is a fact, call RPM @ 718-740-3277 they will confirm that.

Re: Accel DFI (Liltrix)
Well I called them and all they had to say is I dunno, but I have one in my car. So you tell me what reads the electronic VSS? The speedo does not work without it.

Re: Accel DFI (Turbo EG6)
I have the DFI in my B18C1 Turbo civic, and I am not using a stock ECU and everything works, my speedo and tach fuel gauge and temp guage.

Re: Accel DFI (Liltrix)
Does the DFI plug into the Speedo? How is it supposed to read the increase voltage/resistance for the speedo? Fuel gauge will work, because it is straight to the fuse panel. The temp gauge will work if you kept the stock harness hooked up, because this too runs to your fuse panel.
Explain your setup then?
