AC Removal: 3G Teg
Hey Guys-
Thought that this would be a good forum to post in due to so many people in here removing their AC. I was wondering if there were any how tos available on the process or if you could please give me some tips before I start hackin tomorrow

just "accidentally" empty the freon to from the lower pressure line ( the nipple by the WG), then undo every single bolt that connects to the line from the firewall by the battery, to the compressor and etc.

just don't remove the top bolt of a line hooked up to the compressor lol. I was a stupid *** and did that and freon sprayed all over the garage and all on box with a poor chuck norris pic on it.

Well, I made a big ****** mess out of the freon... but it was fun. I felt like a kid playing with that teenage mutant ninja turtle toy slime.

Do you have to remove the power steering pump to remove the compressor? I guess I have to pick up a belt tension gauge tomorrow

nah, just use your finger, and if you have a ruler, it'll work too..
push the vertical part of the ruler to the belt in between 2 pulleys, then get a straight, thin blade and see how far down the ruler marking against the sharp, thin blade and if you get about1/4" or so, you'll be fine

Update: this is a bigger PITA than I expected I should have removed it before all of my turbo related parts went in. It looks like I will have to remove and reinstall my radiator(flush coolant too), remove IC piping, dump tube, intake filter... Oh well, I will get dirty tomorrow after I pick up some liquid gasket for the radiator reinstall.
