Default AAHHH Turbo Options!

I'm getting ready to purchase a turbo for my build.

B18a1 block
Eagle Rods
Wiseco Pistons low comp.
B18b head
KMS Valvetrain

I'm looking for moderate power, 350-400hp at the wheels but I want to stay on pump gas. I'm really really interested in reliability of the turbo yet keeping the price bellow 800.00.

I have found that a lot of people on the VW forums like the Garrett T3/to4e 50 trim, stating the 57 trim has a nasty surge line for a 1.8l. Any help would be great.

i don't think a 57trim would be the the reason for a surge. if you raised for amount 100 to 150 you could get a new ball bearing turbo but about 200 dollars less you and might end up with a used one.
