Default 98 GSR Turbo Build Guidance (GT3582r)

Hi all in HT,

I am in need for some guidance. I have 99 EK Hatch with a 98 GSR B18c1 (obd2) with a couple of bolt-ons.

Bolt-ont:
-Intake
-type-r headers
-Aeromotive Fuel pressure regulator
-walbro-255 fuel pump
-golden eagle fuel rail
-chipped p28 ECU.

I want to turbo my GSR for 450-500 whp so this is the list of things that I have purchased for my build.

Turbo:
-Garrett GT3582r A/R .70 turbo
-Catch can
-BOV
-Intercooler + piping
-Exhaust Manifold
-Tial Wastegate
-Dump Pipe
-Fluid line Radiator
-ARP Head Studs
-OEM headgasket

Electronics:
-Boost Controler
-Apexi Turbo Timer
-Water temp gauge
-Oil Pressure gauge
-Boost/Vacuum gauge

Soon to Purchase:
-Oil Feed lines
-Injector Dynamics 750cc

My question is, what do I need to do and what would you all recommend for my motor? such as pistons, rods and the size n bore, sleeves? Is there anything I need to do to the head since its stock?

Would really appreciate your word of advice and thank for your time.

First off, go with ID1000's same price and gives you a little more room to grow, still idles like stock and runs great. Second I would sleeve the motor and go with 9.8:1 compression or even 10.1:1 with eagle rods, CP pistons, and all OEM bearings and lower gasket set. ERL, golden eagle, Benson, RS machines... all good places to get the sleeving done and assembly of the motor. Good luck; and if your pockets are not too deep you can go with stock sleeves and make the power you desire but when you start appraoching 550-600whp the sleeves do become the weak point, so sleeving as a good idea if you beat the car all the time when you drive.

alternative fuel. E85 suggestion
stock bore, fresh cross hatch/rebuild, forged rods and pistons.
sleeves for over 450 whp (a little peace of mind)
good tuner. good luck!

450whp on 93 octane with a GT35R is VERY doable, no need for corn-moonshine.
Sleeving is great insurance, though with the right tune you can hold off until you want to make more.

I also are in the same boat with a b16 build
I have rc 550 injectors and tuned with a fully built motor- minus sleeves
dynoed with s300 at 320 whp using garrett .60 trim conservative
Was told i could get to 375-400 whp and be safe with 1000 idc injectors and maybe a better intake manifold
Will have it in the next week or so,
Check out my build thread, will be up sometime today and it will show all i have done and maybe give you a few ideas

Go with a 10:1 CP, or Aries piston. Any forged H beam rods and you will be good to go. Why are you looking at ID750's when the 1000's are the same price?

Thank you all for the feedback. You all have been very helpful.

I was thinking of getting ID750 because i thought they were big enough, didn't think I'd be able to use bigger injectors (1000cc) for this turbo.

Sleeving will be done to the block.
Which would be better, 10:1 high compression pistons or 9:1 low compression?

I shall start posting pictures as the parts start come in as I order them after doing lots of research.

Thank you all once again for all the help and guidance.

G.E. Sleeves 1st option or ERL, Benson, RS or Darton as long as a good reputable machine shop does the work.
Cylinders copper ''O'' ring
0.003 inch step deck
84mm Arias pistons 9.5:1
Eagle H beam rods
G.E. Main studs, Head studs, Head gasket
Balance rotating assembly, check piston pin fit, chamfer & micropolish crank
Align bore if necessary
ACL bearings
