if the heads not broke dont fix it.

boost psi means nothing. tune it to 180-220hp to be safe.

whats your budget?

Okay well if u want to keep up with the competition than I would get the drag racing app for an android....
But seriously street racing is retarded and piles up tickets. And with a stock single cam non vtec your not gonna be smoking much. Even when you put a huge turbo on to make the power and have mad lag.
Do some more research on your motor first you could slap some piston and rods in to be safe but plan on spending a good 3 grand or more then you would be scratching the wall of the competition. Good luck
Buy good head studs
Solid tune
Good wastegate

i know street racing is stupid i said that because who wouldn't be tempted to do a little bit of high speeding with a boosted car.. my two options that i have is boosting or dropping a b16.. thanks a lot for your advice..

You could boost the y7 now and save for a b16 as you learn about how to take care of a boosted caryou build the b16 and the swap over engines.. Dont rush it

t3/t4 are just the sizing.. you want to look at the AR's

I would do a compression test and leakdown test to see the health of the engine before buying anything..

Dont waste your time on a B16.. these engines are over rated and anyone with serious power goals wont even look at a B16. Might as well keep the D series if your sticking with a 1.6l power plant. B16's are garbage.

Make sure to port the oil pump (search) so you dont starve the engine.

You really gotta make sure you're getting enough oil, so like EsoteriImage said, you don't want to starve the engine. That's pretty much what happened to my Y8 and now I gotta get another one.

if you're going to boost a d16y5/7/8 you'll want to port the oil pump to prevent this.

It was my first time boosting a car myself and there was so much to read/research it was kind of information overload and it was the one important thing I missed. Although I think my stock oil pump with 150k miles would have given out eventually anyway.

kunov1 i jus boosted my y8 and i been watching my oil psi guage it seems to be getting good oil psi the only thing i ever heard was y series oil pumps go often so like it said earlier invest in that as well and water pump and at least arp head studs and a cometic headgasket (stock thickness is fine) however putting a z6 head on that wouldnt be bad idea b.c y8 have the most stock compression out of sohc
