Default 96 Boosted Civic in limp mode....HELP !!!!

OK guys my Civic seems to be stuck in limp mode. it has a rev limiter set at 5500 rpms but will not go over 3000rpms. I've got a chipped p28 ecu and everything checks out ok with it. i tried a new jumper harness and nothing has changed. if any1 has any suggestions ......... i need this car up and running..........thanx

What do you mean everything checked out with it? Is this running on a basemap? How did you "check out" that ECU?

it did throw a cel but i couldnt read it which led me to believe maybe the jumper harness was faulty. tried a new jumper but it was the same.

You couldn't read the code? Why not?

Always check your codes, as they narrow your troubleshooting.

With the limited info, it really could be anything. I still wouldn't trust that ecu. Do you have a spare p28? I'd slap it in there and see what happens.

i tried another chipped p28 and its still doing the same thing. not sure why it wont let me read the codes. tried the stock ecu to see if it still throws a cel but it cleared.....now its back on with the p28 (both and niether one will let me read the code with the scanner) ive put on all new sensors - checked wiring and conections - tried a new resistor box - checked plugs and wires put in new plugs and wires....im lost....all i did was change the oil pan gasket drove across town to fill up and then this happened......
