Chipped P28 occasionally getting CEL 63 and car dies. Tapping on ECU fixes it.
I am trying to help the guy who bought my old car. 96 EX with a Chrome tuned chipped P28 (with conversion harness).
Randomly driving down the road, the car will kick the CEL light on and die. When he checked the code, it keeps giving him a code 63. If he taps on the right side (side with female connectors for harness) it seems to fix it, or in some cases tapping on that side is what causes it. The chip connection is obviously on the opposite side of the ECU so Im not sure if its anything there.
Has anyone experienced this or thinks they might know how to trouble shoot it. I have told him to basically check every solder and connection in the ECU but I cant figure out what else could be causing it. Any specific connections to check that could easily cause this?
Thanks.
