92-95 civic hatch intercooler question
okay i have a 93 civic with an ls vtec turbo set up and i really like it, but the only thing im unhappy with is my intercooler. i dont like that my pipping sticks out of the fog light holes.
ive asked a few people about what intercooler will allow me to not only hide the pipping but also allow me to re-install all of my fog lights, because i really miss them.
so if any of you have similar set ups or know which cooler to use...let me know please. here are a few pics of my set up so you can see what i mean..

get something like a precision with the end-tanks on the bottom and move the whole ic down. or flip it and put the end-tanks on the top. there are plenty of intercooler + foglight theads. hit up the archives

You could always lower your FMIC a bit. This will also lower your piping so you can clear the fog light openings.

Re: 92-95 civic hatch intercooler question (NVturbo)
you need an FMIC with the inlet and outlet on the BOTTOM. not centered
think about it .. centered fmic inlet outlet will place the pipes right in the direction of your fog lights !

With that intercooler there is no way he could do that. Look at the last pic...look at where the chargepipes enter relative to the bottom side of where foglights mount...

Re: 92-95 civic hatch intercooler question (22boost)
Ya need to fix that chargepipe first man, them things hanging so low is an eye sore but more importantly it's not too safe.
About the charge pipes, you have several choices.
1. Modify your existing I/C and relocate the openings to the bottom. Remount your I/C to the bottom of the bumper cover and that should take care of it.
2. Get a new I/C with the Openings already at the bottom
3. Get a Back door type I/C with both openings at the back of the I/C which goes thru the side as pic below. (Got this from 2003 Nopi and I do know who's car this is)

yea we tried to mount it a bit lower originally, but it didnt clear the bumper, there was just too much trimming of the bumper cover....and it looked bad, that ic is really thick. so i think im going to go ahead and go with a diff one.
thanks everyone

I set mine up to go under the fog light holes. Looks like my i.c. is a little taller than yours thats why. It can be done, just need to find the right i.c. and take your time on it.

Re: 92-95 civic hatch intercooler question (Pr0ject93hb)
tehe, let the flames begin lol. It's n ebay intercooler actually, made by jdm sport but I think I also see it in the auto square kits. It works uber well and survived my crx getting t-boned by a dodge durango at 50 mph so ya, it's kinda got some sedimental value lol. If you look at the bottom you can see it set a little crooked cause two of the mounts on the i.c. got bent a little from the accident but I think I got it as best as I could without getting a new i.c .
Measuremeants are:
28" end tank to end tank
8.75" tall mount to mount
2.5" thick core
Has 2.5" inlets and is v-barred. Here's a few pics for ya. Soda is for reference, and to show I'm a generic drink bastard (how do you think I pay for all my parts? ) Sorry the i.c. is dirty, been sitting in my shed awaiting the new build to go in. Not the prettiest anymore, but she gets the job done too good to buy a new one. It's like this i.c. was designed for hondas.
NOTE: I kept my bumper support in both cars, the crx I shaved an inch off the bottom lip of the support, that was it.
This was it's first home, my '91 crx si.
This is what happened to my crx one week later *SNIFFLE* The batch didn't dodge ****, she rammed me

bah... never had a problem just painting it. and for anyone that wants to argue i made an *** load of power with it like that and the bumper on...
i just lightly coated the fins, and you can go to town on the tanks...
i got the intercooler off the local street ricer forum, he said it was pre-chinese/ebay madness... i bought it cuz it had the PERFECT measurements for a project that never came threw lol... worked perfect for this too
